New Theory Says Red Skull Will Become The New King of Hell in Avengers: Endgame

Avengers: Endgame –

We might have anticipated a lot of things in Avengers: Infinity War but the death of the heroes at the end of the movie was something that might have been that unpredictable. After all, it happened in the comic books as well. The various events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have always been the target of several fan theories.

Avengers: Endgame Red Skull

The MCU has millions of fans all over the world and they come up with the craziest theories and some of them have actually come true. But no such theory has managed to scratch the surface when it comes to the one we are about to discuss. The Red Skull, ladies and gentlemen, is not done with the Marvel Universe. He is coming back as the God of Hell. The Red Skull is getting a crazy upgrade. Presenting – New Theory says Red Skull will become the new King of Hell in Avengers: Endgame!!

Avengers: Endgame Red Skull

One diehard fan has come to the conclusion that the story of the Red Skull is about to get a lot crazier. Mr. Schmidt is getting on the throne of the underworld. He is about to transform from being a measly guide for the soul stone to the Lord of Hell. This fan states that the Red Skull will become the Demon Lord, Mephisto.

Avengers: Endgame Red Skull

Reddit is filled with some weird fan theories. And how did this one top the race, you ask? Well, it all begins with a throwback to traditional German mythology. Mephistopheles is a demon in Prussian folklore. He is a demon that harvests and collects souls. In Captain America: The First Avenger, the Red Skull is in search of the Cosmic Cube, a mythical Norse artifact that is supposed to hold great power and was the Crown Jewel of Odin’s Vault in Valhalla.

Avengers: Endgame Red Skull

As we now know, the end of the movie which supposedly showed us the death of Red Skull was merely him being transmitted to Vormir, an alien planet where he has cursed with eternal life and being a pathfinder for the Soul Stone. In Infinity War, his task is finally completed after Thanos gets his hands on the stone after sacrificing Gamora.

Avengers: Endgame Red Skull

Alas, he is not going to rest any time soon. Red Skull is coming back. And here’s how:

To explain the theory to you, we might have to get into some technical chess analogies and terms. But we will try to keep it as simple as possible. The various MCU characters concerned with this theory are compared with chess pieces on a board. Mephisto is the Black player. This fun yet crazy fan theory states that Mephisto once tried to control the will of the Infinity Stones.

Avengers: Endgame Red Skull

But just like Red Skull was rejected by the Cosmic Cube, the sentient Infinity Stones rejected Mephisto as well. Ever since Mephisto has been plotting behind the scenes to grab control of the stones and conquer their will. As we know that each Infinity Stone is sentient and living in its own right and it has the ability to reject or accept its wielder. It is this will Mephisto wants to break.

Avengers: Endgame Red SkullHow will he do that? By using a chain of linked wills via souls!! Each soul is a chess player aka a pawn in the universal chess board. And once every stone has accepted a wielder, Mephisto will use this link of wills to control the souls of the wielders, controlling the stones and finally conquering their wills, something that would require a busload of planning and intricate strategizing that is way above the league of Thanos. Mephisto is just waiting in silence for now, for the perfect moment to strike. This means that Thanos has got nothing on this guy.

Avengers: Endgame Red Skull

But first, let me break down who Mephisto really is. Many avid fans would remember Mephisto as the guy who has Johnny Blaze his Ghost rider powers in the movie of the same name. Mephisto is a lord of Hell and is much more than just an evil guy who roams the world looking for people to con their souls out of. But there is a lot of stuff you do not know about the guy.

Avengers: Endgame Red Skull

Mephisto is well versed in the mystical arts and is a heavyweight of the Marvel Universe. He is someone even Odin would think twice before crossing paths with. Mephisto’s reality-altering magic is extremely powerful and he even has the superhuman musculature to back his magical arts up.

Avengers: Endgame Red Skull

Fun Fact: Mephisto is the guy who erased Peter Parker’s past after he revealed himself as Spider-Man. Peter Parker was happily married to Mary Jane but his aunt was dying so he made a deal with the devil. Mephisto is the reason Peter Parker’s life is back to the screwed up way it used to be.

Avengers: Endgame Red Skull

Mephisto has managed to defeat Cosmic Giants. As a demonic entity that can access and manipulate primordial magical forces, Mephisto is a God in his own realm. Mephisto cannot be killed or destroyed as long as his realm exists. Even if his physical form is turned to dust, Mephisto holds the power to regenerate within his own reality, whose very structure is his to control. He once held off a fully charged Galactus and ended the fight on a stalemate.

Theory; Avengers: Endgame; Red Skull may become Mephisto and be revealed as the evil mastermind of the Infinity Wars. Possible ACTUAL *Spoiler Alert* from marvelstudios

As of Right now, Ross Marquand of The Walking Dead fame has replaced Hugo Weaving as the Red Skull aka the Leader of Hydra in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The former replaced the latter in Infinity War after Weaving left the role due to the enormous time required for the make-up part for him to play the character.

Avengers: Endgame Red Skull

Do you think Marvel Studios will bring back Weaving to play Mephisto in the MCU or will it be Ross Marquand who continues to play the role? Will Mephisto be the next big bad wolf of the Marvel Universe after Thanos the Mad Titan? Does this theory just some random prank or does it really hold enough water to be termed as credible? While we might keep asking questions, we have to wait it out nonetheless. Will we see the Red Skull sooner than later in Avengers: Endgame itself? Only time can give us that answer.
