Top Gun Maverick Box Office – It Crosses $1 Billion & Beats Doctor Strange 2

This week’s Box Office report has brought us some major news updates. Ever since 2019’s Star Wars Episode IX, none of the movies made a Billion Dollars until No Way Home hit the theatres. But even after No Way Home, the worldwide Box Office has seen quite a few major disappointments.  Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was a contender to hit the Billion dollar benchmark. But it has fallen short ($947 million) due to multiple reasons. Well, the Top Gun Maverick Box Office report will tell you how bad it has beaten Doctor Strange 2.

Top Gun Maverick Box Office

This movie has been released 2-3 years later than it was supposed to come out. Tom Cruise and Paramount kept on delaying it because they knew the quality of a movie they had managed to produce. They were confident that Maverick will prove to be a major success, so they released it at a time when things were almost back to normal and COVID became an afterthought. And guess what, the patience has come good as the Top Gun sequel has crossed a Billion Dollars worldwide.

Top Gun Maverick Box Office

It currently stands at $1.006 Billion worldwide, out of which $521 million have come out of the domestic market. It has performed exceptionally well over the last month. Even on its 5th weekend, it made $30 million and topped on the domestic front. The newcomer Elvis was beaten by a few hundred dollars. But what’s crazy is that Jurassic World: Dominion has suffered a major drop (just $26 million domestically this weekend) and Disney Pixar’s dreams to make Lightyear the next big thing has been shattered as it suffered a 65% drop and brought in just $17 million on its second weekend. No one’s actually going to watch these summer movies as they’re busy watching and rewatching Top Gun: Maverick!

Jurassic World: Dominion has ended up with $746 million in total. And looking at the major drops it has suffered in the last two weekends, it seems that this film will also end up short of the Billion Dollar mark like Doctor Strange 2. Sadly, it won’t be joining its predecessors in the Billion Dollar Club. As for Lightyear (current total – $152 million) may not even surpass $250 million, and that’s a big worry for Disney-Pixar.
