Avatar
James Cameron’s Avatar was released in the year 2009. This movie is a blockbuster and it was praised internationally by critics. The movie shows the Hindu culture. The word “Avatar” is derived from the Sanskrit word which means incarnation. Sanskrit is an ancient Indian language. It is the language in which India’s literature was written.
The world Avatar is mostly related to Lord Vishnu. Just like Lord Vishnu is believed to take an Avatar to protect the universe from bad deeds, in a similar way this movie is about saving the nature and the universe from destruction and civilization.
The Matrix
The Matrix was released in the year 1999. It’s a science fiction film series which is created by Wachowski Brothers. This movie is considered as the benchmark for all the science fiction movies to come. Not only it was praised by the audiences but even the critics were very much positive about the film. The movie is based on yogic principles and Hindu Mythology.
Even the makers of the film openly admit that their film is based on the Hinduism. The film is also based on Maya or Illusions. In Hindu mythology, some saints have also seen Maya and they know that it is a false reality which is beyond anyone’s imagination.
Interstellar
Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar is one of the best science fiction movies that you will ever see. This movie was released in the year 2014. It’s a brainy and a barny masterpiece which is loved by all. The story of the film relates to Hindu mythology when Lord Indra takes the help from king Muchukunda, who is from the planet earth when there was a war between Deva and Asura.
The king fought for one year and when he was returning to earth from the war in heaven, Lord Indra told him that one second in heaven equals one year on Earth. And the king for one year in heaven which equals to 31536000 years on earth. Lord Indira told him that during his stay in the heaven for a year, he must have lost his kingdom on the earth.
Star Wars Series
In the movie Star Wars, there is a Princess Leia. She is kidnapped and an evil Warlord keeps her against her will. Her cry for help is delivered by a non-human entity, the android R2-D2, to a youthful hero named Luke Skywalker. He then comes for her rescue and saves her with the help of his devotee, Chewbacca, who is half-human and half animal.
The Star Wars story is very similar to our Ramayana. As even in Ramayana, Princess Sita is kidnaped by Ravana and is held against her will and her cry for help is delivered by a non-human entity, Jatayu. After which Lord Ram comes for her rescue along with his devotee Hanuman who is a half monkey and half human.
Inception
Christopher Nolan’s Inception is a masterpiece. This movie was released in the year 2010. This movie is based on Indian philosophy. According to Adi Shankaracharya, “Brahma Satya. Jagat Mithya, Jivo Brahmaiva Naparah”. It means that Brahman is the only truth, the rest of the world is an illusion, and there is absolutely no difference between Brahman and the individual self. Hindu’s believe that our reality is the dream of God.
According to this movie, as you go deeper and deeper into the Dream Levels, your time is stretched. As what is 5 minutes, in reality, will turn to an hour in Level 1 and as you go deeper and deeper the time will increase. The deeper you go, the farther your mind is from reality. In the movie, this concept of Dream level and Dream Time is similar to The Hindu units of measurement.
