New ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Concept Art Reveals Alternate Look of Groot

An alternate look of Groot has been revealed by an early concept art of Guardians of the Galaxy and we bet that you’re going to get confused if someone is going to ask you which one is better? The one we have in the movies of MCU or this one? Because his look in the concept art is very different and kind of cool.

The character ‘Groot’ is one of the very few characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe whose beloved to every person on the planet. The character made his debut in Guardians of the Galaxy which came back in 2012. The unique body and appearance of the character got a lot of attention from the audiences and quickly made a place for himself in the hearts of fans.

But, recently it has been revealed by the concept artist of Marvel Studios, Charlie Wen through his Twitter account that Groot had a completely different look at the beginning of things and also shared a picture of Groot with Rocket Raccoon on his back. The interesting and different thing here is that Groot’s appearance is much more like a humanoid version rather than the one we saw in the MCU. Have a look at the concept art:

The concept artist, Wen talked about the humanoid anatomy of Groot and captioned the picture:

“Buddies forever” – another early concept I designed for Groot in #guardiansofthegalaxy. This one has a bit more overt “human” anatomy in his structure. At Marvel, we felt Rocket and Groot were pivotal for the success of the film. #marvel #marvelstudios #groot #rocket

Also, many people claimed that the reason why Marvel didn’t go for this version of Groot is that he looks a little similar to DC Comics’ famous character Swamp Thing. Well, in the concept art, we can see another most beloved character of the MCU, Rocket Raccoon but we can see that he looks quite similar to the version of his character in the movies.

We can easily understand the challenge the artists had to face while thinking about the appearance of Groot as the character was an adult in the very first film, was a toddler in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and then an adolescent in the movie Avengers: Infinity War. Groot turned into dust like many others after that Decimation event in Infinity War.

Well, there aren’t any confirmed reports for now as whether we will see Groot coming back in the movie Avengers: Endgame or not and the future of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has also been delayed for more time as finding the replacement of James Gunn is turning out to be a gigantic task for Marvel Studios.

According to the rumor DanielRPK has shared, Marvel wants a female director for this movie despite a lot of speculations of Taika Waititi going to handle the job after his great success in Thor: Ragnarok. The demand of female directors at Marvel Studios is huge as Marvel knows that there are many tremendous directors out there who can do this job for them.

If we talk about the reports SuperBroMovies has delivered on the internet, we see that there are many names on the list for the job of director for the Vol.3 of Guardians of the Galaxy. Some of the notable names are of Dee Rees (Mudbound), Michelle MacLaren (Game of Thrones), and S.J. Clarkson (Star Trek 4). We all know all these names are just rumors right now, but we all know that in this industry, the weirdest of rumors become a reality.

Well, no matter what happens with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 all the focus is on Avengers: Endgame as we all wanted to see Groot in the movie. Also, what are your views on the concept art of Groot? Tell us in the comments section down below.
