The last core MCU movie came out back in July 2018, and ever since then, we have been waiting for the MCU festival to return. While 2018 was the biggest MCU fest, 2019 is going to take things even past that, and all that will begin with the Marvel’s biggest powerhouse Captain Marvel. We are just 1.5 months away from the film, or even less, I don’t know. Wasn’t great in math. But the point is that Marvel is running their final marketing campaign for the movie, and things will pick pace as we get the final trailer of Captain Marvel.
February will be the month of new clips, TV spots, Promo arts, images, and Posters. While we wait for the digital marketing to pick up the pace, Marvel has released a marvelous new Captain Marvel promo art for the film. Captain Marvel will take the center stage soon enough, and it is good that even after seeing 3 trailers, we still have quite a lot to unpack from the film. As of now, the film is tracking great numbers for its opening weekend as pre ticket sales are doing remarkably well.
Analysts have predicted that Captain Marvel will end up with numbers that will go as high as $140 Million if not more. Now, these are just early estimates which may or may not be right, but the last month of marketing and the upcoming trailer could just boost the sales even further.
Black Panther had early projections for $90 Million and above, and Disney was quite happy with that. But something insane happened and the projections kept rising to an all-time high as the film got closer and closer to its release. Ultimately the movie ended up making a mighty $202 Million within its first 3 days of release in the US. So, anything is possible with Captain Marvel.
What we know as of now is that even if the film doesn’t end up doing what Black Panther did, people are still pretty psyched about it and they will turn up to the theatres in large numbers. So, the number which currently stands at $140 Million according to analysts will only increase, and it won’t go the other way around.
Captain Marvel will bring in a totally different Superhero than what we have ever seen. In an Interview last year, Brie Larson described the nature of Carol Danvers and how she is different from the other Superheroes that we have come across till now.
“I think she has an ego, but in a healthy way. She doesn’t have an unrealistic expectation of herself – she just owns that she’s really good and really skilled, which feels good to play. She also has an incredible sense of humor, makes fun of herself, makes fun of other people and has no issue if someone makes fun of her. [She’s] probably the most dynamic character that I’ve ever played. We’ll see what the movie is, but as of now it’s been the most range I’ve ever played in a character. I’ve had to go through every emotion possible with her…That’s what I want: I want to see complicated female characters. I want to see myself, which is not a simple person. I surprise myself constantly by what’s happening and what’s coming up, so hopefully that’s what comes out on screen.”
Captain Marvel opens on March 8.
