Rumor: Live-Action Return Of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man In A 2023 Movie

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man return is rumored to be happening sooner than expected, and it may involve a crossover with an animated version of the hero. While fans adore Holland’s portrayal of the web-slinger, there has been much speculation about when he will return to the role. In November 2022, rumors began circulating that Holland had signed on to star in a new trilogy of Spider-Man films with Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, as well as other appearances as the character.

Although the writing for his fourth solo movie is only beginning, it seems that Holland will make at least one appearance as Spider-Man before the new trilogy of films hits theaters. Industry insider Jeff Sneider revealed that the delay of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was partly due to the effort of getting Holland to appear in the movie. Sneider suggested that Holland may appear as Spider-Man in an animated Miles Morales movie, with Miles visiting a live-action dimension where Holland’s Spider-Man resides.

While this is still just a rumor and has not been confirmed by Marvel Studios, it has excited fans who are eager to see Holland’s Spider-Man return to the big screen. Late last year, The Cosmic Circus reported on the possibility of Holland appearing in one of Sony Pictures’ upcoming animated films, specifically as his MCU version of Spider-Man. However, it was unclear if Holland would voice the character or if it would be an animated version of the hero.

If Sony can pull off a live-action/animated crossover with Holland’s Spider-Man and an animated version of the hero, it would undoubtedly be a major event for fans. Both Holland’s Spider-Man and the animated Miles Morales are beloved interpretations of the character, and the crossover could potentially generate a reaction from audiences on the scale of Avengers: Endgame or No Way Home.

The question remains whether all parties involved can make it happen, but considering that they were able to bring three generations of Spider-Man together on screen, anything seems possible. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is set to hit theaters on June 2, so fans will have to wait and see if Holland’s Spider-Man makes an appearance in the film or if the crossover happens in another project.
