Avengers: Infinity War – A Plot Hole Has Been Spotted in Thanos’ Snap

Avengers: Infinity War stunned the audience by the totally unexpected ending that it portrayed. People didn’t expect Thanos to actually manage to get a hold of all the stones. Not only did he do that, but he snapped and with that, half the population of the entire Universe ceased to exist. We saw the Decimation right in front of our eyes, and now the next film will mostly be about bringing the dusted characters back and reversing the snap.

But before all that, an MCU fan on Reddit has spotted a potential plothole in the snappening. Reddit user deadmemeresurrected has pointed out a fact and asks the following valid question:

“Dr. Strange told that Thanos can wield the power of gauntlet only if he clench his fist. Then how could a snap do the thing?”

Well if you think about it, this is, in fact, a puzzle that could take some time to solve. We did see him clenching his fist while he used one or multiple Infinity Stones to attack, but the snap didn’t necessarily involve that. Now you could either spend hours trying to come up with some logical explanation to this, or you could just let it go because “It is a comic book movie!”

Thanos turned out to be the biggest MCU villain ever as he was the first one who was able to achieve his ultimate goal by defeating the Avengers. Here’s what Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige had to say about the big bad Mad Titan in an official magazine commemorating the 10th anniversary of the company.

“Thanos has been lurking in the shadows with a desire to obtain these Infinity Stones, which has played a big part in our other films. We’ve introduced the Tesseract, revealed to be the Space Stone; the Mind Stone, which came out of Loki’s scepter and then went into Vision’s forehead; and the Time Stone: the Eye of Agamotto that Doctor Strange wears is an Infinity Stone itself! And of course the Guardians dealt with the Power Stone.

So these storytelling devices that we’ve seeded into every film will continue to play a part and come together. We’ve been teasing this for six years. That’s a long time to tease something cinematically before paying it off. Thanos has to be the greatest villain in our movies.”

Josh Brolin was remarkable as the Mad Titan and here’s what the two directors had to say about Josh Brolin’s amazing performance as Thanos:

“Anthony Russo – He’s such an amazing performer and so uniquely suited to Thanos. What we were looking for in the character of Thanos is the strongest, most intimidating figure in the universe. While at the same time we wanted to tell a story about a character with a really complex and empathetic interior life. There are not a lot of actors that can give you both of those things. Josh Brolin is perhaps the best example that you can find where you have somebody who has a physical presence and brings that level of intensity and threat, while at the same time having another layer always at work underneath that, which is a very complex inner life and a lot of emotional depth and texture.”

“Joe Russo – Josh created an incredibly nuanced character who is both frightening and oddly emotional.”

Now Thanos will return in Avengers: Endgame, but what brings him back to the fighting is still a mystery. Apart from Thanos, there is also going to be another bigger threat waiting to attack, and many people actually believe that Thanos will side with the Avengers for a while to prevent that. Talking about the Snap, there are various theories which also suggest that there’s going to be a second snap. We don’t know about that, but we do know this for a fact that Avengers: Endgame will be the biggest movie any studio has ever produced.

Directed by Joe & Anthony Russo, Avengers: Endgame will open on April 26.
