So the first trailer for Avengers: Endgame hit the net just yesterday and we have to say that now we totally understand how the marketing of this film is going to be different from any other film. This trailer was dark by any Marvel standards and it poured Salt on our wounds with the swag of Salt Bae. It gave us a look into the depressing aftermath of the Decimation (Thanos’ Snap). The trailer begins with Tony adrift in space having no chance to return home.
But we know for a fact that Iron Man is going to be in this film for a long haul. He is going to return to Earth and reunite with the rest of the Avengers. But how will that happen? The situation that we find him in, there’s a very unlikely possibility that someone could survive this.
He didn’t eat food and drink water for 4 days and has only got 1 day of Oxygen left. The ship he is in seems to have run out of fuel so he cannot make the space jump even if he knew how to do that. So he definitely needs some saving and here’s every way that could happen:
Tony comes up with a new piece of tech
While this is highly unlikely because when Tony could not have done anything for so many days, how can he suddenly come up with something in his final few hours of survival? But considering how Tony is the Mechanic, he can do anything. So let’s bench this option and not rule it out fully. Perhaps Tony comes up with a way to extend his survival. Who knows!
Captain Marvel Saves him
By the location of Captain Marvel that is presumed, for now, it is possible that Captain Marvel could be traveling back to Earth through Space, comes across Tony and ends up saving him. But this cannot happen just like that. Even though plot convenience is a major aspect of Marvel movies, this surely has to be explained properly. Perhaps Tony is able to give out some kind of distress signal and Captain Marvel ends up rescuing him?
Pepper Rescue’s Tony
Talking of rescuing, it has been confirmed by leaked action figures catalogue and set images that Pepper is going to Don the Rescue Armor in this film. Now the purpose of that armor has to be to ‘Rescue’ someone. But how Pepper does that with Tony being adrift in space is what we cannot really be certain of. It has to be Pepper that saves Tony, but we cannot figure out a way of how that happens even in our wild guesses.
Thor & the Stormbreaker
Thor literally holds a major key factor of how he could save anyone from anywhere. His new axe, Stormbreaker can summon the Bifrost and take him anywhere he wants. Perhaps he is able to pinpoint the location of Tony somehow and brings him back within a second.
But him using the Bifrost could shatter Tony’s ship. Also, he arrived in Wakanda out of nowhere and people have been asking how he knew that location in the first place. So perhaps Endgame could use the same kind of plot convenience? We will certainly get more hints upon it in the next trailer(s).
Imagine if Marvel actually kills off Tony Stark just like that and the one that unites with the Avengers ends up being a Skrull imposter! That would be a very dark and ballsy move by the writers. But it won’t happen. Iron Man is the key to the “Endgame” and he will be back for sure.
