10 Incredible Facts About MCU’s Future We Learned From The Art of Infinity War Book

The Art of Infinity War is a book of unused concept arts and drawings that were never used in the Avengers: Infinity War movie. Many were so incredibly radical and revolutionary in their scope to change the MCU that the Russo Brothers forbade any artist from using them ever again in further developments when the movie was in its pre-production phase. We have some of them right here and the conclusions regarding Marvel Cinematic Universe’s future events we drew for them are staggering. Presenting – 10 incredible facts about MCU’s future we learned from the Art of Infinity War book!!

 1. Loki might not be dead after all

The movie began with a lot of death and tragedy. Thanos and his Black Order intercepted the old Asgardian Refugee ship and massacred the entire remnant of the Asgardian civilization. Loki was also one of the casualties, dying in one of the most heroic and heart-wrenching ways possible.

But the concept art book that Loki’s death was visually scripted on multiple platforms where he died in various different ways. The one we saw in the movie is also one of them. But what is more intriguing is the fact that since, there were multiple scripts, in at least one of them, Loki survived the ordeal and this could be the harbinger script for Avengers 4.

 2. The Snap was supposed to be even scarier

The way the heroes were whisked away out of existence sure was scary. One moment the heroes are fighting the mad Titan tooth and nail after they finally gain the upper hand after such a long time, then the next moment, one by one they are turning to dust as we look in awe.

But the Art of Infinity War book shows that the Snap was actually planned to be way scarier and spookier than what we saw on screen. The original way the victims of the snap were supposed to go away was with a light tinge of aura as their bodies slowly collapse with their souls being ripped out of them as they give out a slow and agonizing scream.

 3. Captain America’s Shield had a hidden Easter egg that no one noticed

In Infinity War, Captain America is back with his signature weapon – the Shield. He had given up the vibranium weapon after Civil War when Tony had deemed him unworthy of being the ideal person to wield it. Captain America gets a Shield that is triangular and unconventional in nature from the King of Wakanda aka Black Panther for the coming battle.

Captain’s shield is a tribute to his old triangular shield from the 1940’s. It was also made of Vibranium and was made by Howard Stark, father of Tony Stark. T’Challa even mentions Howard passively in the same scene. This is all to make sure that Captain at least considers forgiving Tony Stark for the events of Civil War.

 4. The Inhumans were supposed to be a part of Infinity War

Marvel Studios had announced that the Inhumans would be a part of Avengers: infinity War way back in 2017. Suffice it to say, the Inhumans never became a part of the larger MCU, instead spawning a forgettable TV Show. In the original art for the movie, the Inhumans were the original protectors of the Soul Stone, not Red Skull.

The Inhumans idea was dropped after Spiderman came into the picture in Captain America: Civil War. There might still be hope. The Inhumans could still make an appearance since Vormir is a part of the Inter-Galactic Kree Empire. The Krees were the ones who created the Inhumans in the first place.

 5. Bor – Father of Odin, was supposed to be in the movie

The concept art for Thor shows a rather different story line was going to be featured for the Thor arc. Thor travels to Nidavellir in the movie to get his new weapon the Stormbreaker. In the comics, the weapon Thor wields when he becomes unworthy of the Mjolnir hammer was the Jarnbjorn axe, which was the original weapon of choice for the hero in Infinity War.

Apart from that, the Nidavellir arc was not even planned initially. In the initial cut, Thor was supposed to rake Groot and Rocket on a journey to find out the whereabouts of the spirit of his dead grandfather Bor.

 6. Captain America and Sharon are going to be a thing

If Infinity War showed us anything, it is that Captain is untouchable when it comes to death. Cap will go against the most powerful being in the whole wide universe with nothing but his bare hands and still manage to live to tell the tale. Cap is going to have his final appearance in Avengers 4 and his streak of good luck is about to come to an end.

Captain America could not get the love of his life when he had to kamikaze a Hydra war plane to save the world in The First Avenger. In Infinity War, Cap and Sharon Carter will become a couple but again, Cap will die before their relationship could go any further than two minutes.

 7. Falcon in Space

Sam Wilson is one of the most underrated MCU superheroes. Maybe because he lives under Captain America’s shadow, he is not able to actually shine too much for everyone to notice. But his time is coming. If Sam had not died, he would have been featured in an outer space adventure.

Given Falcon’s skill set, an outer space trip is not that unusual. Sam is dead now but Marvel has already announced a Falcon/Winter Soldier TV Series in the works. The Falcon is going to space, people!!! This time for sure.

 8. Captain America will have a new costume

There have been so many already. The original First Avenger one, the Avengers version, the Civil War one and the Infinity War version are some of them that stood out. In the next Avengers movie, Cap will also have another hot at a new suit. Like Iron Man, Cap likes to try out new outfits.

And since this will be his final appearance as Steve Rogers, Chris Evans is reported pushing the costume designers to go all out on the design part. Captain America is going to have a new look. If you ask us one to pick, the rugged street look version of his suit that was originally featured in the Infinity war book comes to mind.

 9. Red Skull will have a completely different look

Art of Infinity War MCU

In Infinity war, the Red Skull we saw on Vormir was a shrivelled up husk of his former self. Red Skull now was a subservient and complacent personality that lacked the physique and the ferocity to tap into the reservoir of true villainy. Red Skull was, believe it or not, supposed to look even more dastardly. The guy was made to look almost like a ghost, with eyes gouging out and a deformed skull. It almost looked like the designers were inspired from a Del Toro movie. If Red Skull appears again, expect to see something like this in the future.

 10. Transformer Tony

Art of Infinity War MCU

Tony Stark did the best he could with his new Infinity War suit. He made it faster, stronger and smarter. Yet he failed in protecting his protégé. He failed to protect the Earth. He will not fail again. An earlier concept art showed the extent to which Tony Stark’s nanotechnology powered Iron Man suit was capable of.

In Avengers 4, Tony will tap into the suit’s maximum potential, to show feats that would be considered as technologically impossible. One of those feats would be something as described by the above picture. Tony becomes a literal transformer in this one. This artwork must have come in handy for sure when Avengers 4 was in its pre-production stage. Go figure.

The last Avengers movie to be released under the MCU banner was Avengers: Infinity War. The official film synopsis for the movie reads:

Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet — the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artefacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain as everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment.
