It was Charlie Wen, who is the concept artist of Marvel Studios and is the man who has revealed the early sketches for the movie Guardians of the Galaxy and in which we can see a different version of Star-Lord’s ride in the movie. The sketches he has posted on his official Instagram handle is done below and you can have a look at it:

He also shared the sketch with the caption that:

#bts process of my previous #guardiansofthegalaxy post. These were black and white sketches I did as options for the very first teaser of the film at ComicCon. Since there was only the weekend to complete the image, I did these two options. Not enough time to spend on designing the characters here, but hopefully it did its job of conveying the tone and feel of the project that Marvel was about to dive into. @kevfeige chose the bottom image for the reveal:)

Besides this, the president of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige has also discussed something about the movie Guardians of the Galaxy at Comic-Con International back in 2010 and James Gunn’s movie seems to be a lot more changed than the one we have seen in the sketches and early concept arts of the movie.

It’s hard to forget the golden days of Guardians of the Galaxy series and with the firing of James Gunn from the place of director’s chair, it’s hard to think about the future of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as in an official statement the company has stated,

“The offensive attitudes and statements discovered on James’ Twitter feed are indefensible and inconsistent with our studio’s values, and we have severed our business relationship with him.”

But, in a joint statement from the side of the cast of the movie, it has been stated,

“Being in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies has been a great honor in each of our lives. We cannot let this moment pass without expressing our love, support, and gratitude for James. We are not here to defend his jokes of many years ago but rather to share our experience having spent many years together on set making Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and 2. The character he has shown in the wake of his firing is consistent with the man he was every day on set, and his apology, now and from years ago when first addressing these remarks, we believe is from the heart, a heart we all know, trust, and love.”
