 1. Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro

This cult classic Bollywood comedy directed by Kundan Shah was way ahead of its time. The movie starred an ensemble cast including Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri, Neena Gupta, Satish Shah, Bhakti Barve, and Pankaj Kapur. The movie was a dark satire in a time when this genre wasn’t explored much in Bollywood. With its amazing comic timing, the movie also comments on the subjects of corruption in Indian Politics and also the news and media business. It starts with a story of two friends who start a photo studio and who come across corruption and bureaucracy and fight the system.

 2. Andaz Apna Apna

The madness on screen and the presence of villains like Teja, Robert and the epic Crime master Gogo make it all the more entertaining.

Dibakar Banerjee’s directorial debut, the film’s story revolves around a middle-class man who lives in Delhi. He tries to get back his land from a property dealer with the help of his sons. The movie stars Anupam Kher, Vinay Pathak, Ranvir Shorey, and Boman Irani. Despite being made on a shoestring budget, this movie did really well on the box office and was praised by the critics as well.

 4. Chupke Chupke

The movie is definitely an example of a classic flick where you smile and laugh all the way through. It features veteran actors like tars Dharmendra, Sharmila Tagore, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Om Prakash etc. Directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee the story is about a man who pranks his wife’s family.

Memes and Jokes from this comedy are still doing rounds of the internet and making us giggle. Besides, who doesn’t remember the epic “Ye Babu Rao ka style hai”?. The movie revolves around the trio played by Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal who go through crazy shenanigans in order to survive their everyday humdrum. The film’s sequel ‘Phir Hera Pheri’ released in the year 2006.

 6. Bheja Fry

Starring the very renowned but underrated Vinay Pathak, was also one of the small budget films that managed to do really well at the box office. It also features actors like Ranvir Shorey, Sarika, and Milind Soman. The film revolves around Ranjit, who targets ‘ Silly’ people and makes fun of them until he invites Bharat, a singer and a tax inspector who creates a ruckus in his life. The film is the first part of the Bheja Fry trilogy that has two more sequels which are equally hilarious.

 7. Angoor

Angoor, directed by the famous music director Gulzar, stars Sanjeev Kumar and Deven Verma in a dual role. The movie is based on a Shakespeare play ‘Comedy of Errors’ which revolves around the story of two pairs of twins who get separated at birth and meet as adults later.

 8. Gol Maal

Another one by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, The movie starts with a man’s simple lie to protect his job which gets escalated into more of them, resulting in his boss to suspect him. The movie cast comprises of Amol Palekar, Deven Verma and Bindiya Goswami.

 9. Chachi 420

The film is directed by Kamal Hassan who also stars in the film playing a double role. The film also featured the actors Tabu, Amrish Puri, Om Puri, Johnny Walker, and Paresh Rawal. The tale is about a man who takes a guise of a nanny in an attempt to be with his only child.

 10. Coolie No. 1
