Avengers 4 Title Revealed by Mark Ruffalo Was ‘The Last Avenger’

Marvel is totally having their fun with the Avengers 4 title as they still haven’t revealed it, and all people seem to be talking about is Avengers 4. People don’t know anything about the film till now, and Marvel hasn’t revealed anything, but still, it is making all the headlines. New York Comic Con happened recently and Marvel did not have a presence and still, all we heard of was the title of Avengers 4. That is the power that Marvel has in Hollywood. Mark Ruffalo was just supposed to be a guest on the Tonight Show, and Marvel converted that into a big marketing tool.

Before his appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Ruffalo teased the fact that he has given away massive spoilers about Avengers 4 as he sent out a tweet requesting Fallon to cut that all. Here’s the tweet:

When the show aired, it turned out that Ruffalo was just out of control spoiling the film completely. But all that was beeped and we never really got to see or even hear anything. Ruffalo started things with the title of the film. Have a look:

While the story that he told was completely made up, he may have actually given away the title of the film. It was obviously beeped and his mouth was covered up, but a fan on Twitter has redacted and edited what Ruffalo said when he supposedly revealed the title to the audiences. Take a look:

If you focus on the second tweet that tries to make the sound more clearer, you probably would have heard something like “The Last Avenger”. If you match that with the video on the show, the time Ruffalo took to say it and his facial movement all accounted to these three words. The whole Tonight Show act by Ruffalo was staged by Marvel but did he actually tease the real thing?

The Last Avenger makes quite a lot of sense and is a massive title. But when you say it with “Avengers”, it does sound a little Corny. But it could totally work in the MCU. If you go according to the timeline of MCU, the events of Captain America: The First Avenger are to be what start the proceedings for this Universe, and “The Last Avenger” could be the culmination of the MCU as we know it. This also teases the fact that Cap will probably be the last man standing until he makes the big sacrifice to bring everyone back.

But the title of Avengers 4 has to be a massive spoiler for Avengers: Infinity War, so The Last Avenger doesn’t necessarily state that. There were clearly many who survived, so what if the title is “The Last Avengers”. This would then have the word ‘Avengers’ be removed from the start as of why would you repeat it twice in a title. So, people would straight up call it “The Last Avengers”. This title actually falls into all the conditions that the title had to fulfill. It signifies a spoiler for Infinity War as we saw the last line of defense surviving towards the end of the film and this was never necessarily spoken in the film as the Russos suggested.
