Marvel Cinematic Universe – Here’s the Favorite Word of Thor Odinson

Avengers: Infinity War was a movie about 2 people, in particular, Thor Odinson and Thanos! While Thanos stole the show with the big snap, it was Thor who had the big moments to shine amongst the heroes. While most of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies have pitched Captain America and Iron Man to lead the movies, Infinity War rightfully brought the strongest Avenger forward to take on their biggest villain till date.

Before Infinity War came out, the co-director of the movie, Joe Russo revealed that after Thanos, Thor is the character that will have the most screen time and that is what happened! Here’s what he said:

“Interestingly enough, I’ll start out by saying Thanos, even though he’s not a character that had a huge preexisting story in the Marvel universe. He was a threat but he was not developed in any way up to this point. Thanos has an incredible amount of screen time in this film, in a lot of ways I would say it’s his movie. Our job when we make these films — and what we feel is important to us — is to surprise the audience. We wanted to tell a story that they weren’t expecting, and the story is told from the point of view of a villain, which I think is also really unique and risky for a commercial film that will surprise the audience. I think this is a market where the audience really enjoys innovation and disruption, and we want to do something innovative in this space. So I think Thanos has an incredible amount of screen time, and I think you’ll find that Thor has a really interesting arc in the film. He hasn’t been at the forefront of other Avengers movies but he certainly has a very important role in this film. So I’ll say, Thanos and Thor.”

Thor’s journey has mostly been fun throughout his appearances in MCU, but at the same time, it has been really painful as with every movie, he has suffered and lost a piece of him. The one particular dialogue in Avengers: Infinity War started off funny where Rocket keeps asking about Thor’s family, and as he goes on and on, the scene ends up being really heartbreaking as Thor really lost a lot. His father, mother, brother, girlfriend, best friend, planet and people, all of them have gone leaving him alone! Above that, in the very moment, he thought that he might get his revenge, Thanos sneaked in his victory, and that led to the death of half the population of the Universe. Now, that is partially on Thor!

If you think about it, even after trying so much, he actually could not prevent any of his close ones from dying! Other than that, we got to see him screaming just one word every time something bad happened, NOOOOOO! While we might not have realized it until now, when this Reddit fan has posted a video, “No” is actually Thor’s favourite word and it really comes out when he expresses grief or anger. Have a look at this video:

The funny thing here is that this is another one of Thor’s trends in the movies. Except for his appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Thor has screamed a big theatrical NOOOO in every Marvel Cinematic Universe movie appearance. Starting from the first Thor movie, going into Avengers, Thor 2, Ragnarok and finally Avengers: Infinity War. The most horrific end that we got to see in Infinity War, which showed the Snap also had one of these screaming denying moments!

Another one of Thor’s trends in almost every Marvel Cinematic Universe appearance has been his face being smushed into a piece of glass! Again Age of Ultron is the only movie that does not follow this trend, except that every movie has a scene with Thor hugging a piece of glass with immense love! The image above does not show the one that happened in the first Avengers movie, but just to jog your memory and increase the word count in my article, it was in the very swift moment where Thor tries to escape from the glass cage which Loki tossed out of the Helicarrier.

Hopefully, Avengers 4 will continue his trend of screaming and glass hugging. It comes out on May 3, and will possibly be the final movie of Thor and other big guns like Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye and even Hulk.
