Why Would Captain Marvel Punch an Old Lady in Her Face?

So, we got the first trailer for Captain Marvel and my God wasn’t it amazing! It may not be the best debut trailer for a Marvel movie but the film surely has people’s eyes now! There were some stunning things hidden in the trailer that people did not notice as they went by very quickly. But one of those some things were punched right in our faces just like Captain Marvel literally punched a smiling old lady. That was one of the most shocking moments of the trailer and it has many of the fans asking why exactly she would do that.

As most of us know by now that Captain Marvel will mark the entry of the green shape-shifting aliens into the MCU. Captain Marvel will set up the secret invasion storyline for the future of the MCU and the Skrulls will become very prominent once we move past Avengers 4. The secret invasion storyline had the Skrulls infiltrating Earth where they took up the place of many important individuals from Earth as they kept all of them captive, and put in their own agents who were turned into those humans. It is just like how Hydra grew big within SHIELD, but it will be on a much more massive scale as the Skrulls could infiltrate the entire planet!

By looking at the trailer, it seems that the seeds for an invasion will be planted within Captain Marvel itself! The trailer was very Carol heavy but we saw a little glimpse of the Skrulls and perhaps her punching a lady was an addition to that. People were shocked to see that an old lady who was pretty much minding her own business, was sucker punched right into her face as she smiled at Captain Marvel sitting in her seat! Why would she do that? Perhaps Captain Marvel wanted to sit in that seat or was it something else?

Captain Marvel

Knowing about the Skrulls, we would know that they could turn into anyone, so an innocent looking old lady may not be so innocent after all! As the trailer showed us that Captain Marvel has been a part of the Kree Starforce for a while, so she has already encountered the Skrulls. Perhaps a battle in space against the Skrulls is what caused her reentry on Earth. So, she’d definitely know a Skrull when she sees one. And that old lady was nothing but a damn green Skrull posing as a lady.

We don’t know why she may be a Skrull as this was just a teaser trailer but we could guess that this is what Skrulls would do. Hide in plain sight as someone who would not be suspected. But Carol is a hot head. As mentioned by Brie Larson in a previous interview, the Kree part of her moves into situations heads first! She said:

Captain Marvel Nick Fury Phil Coulson

“You have this Kree part of her that’s unemotional, that is an amazing fighter and competitive. Then there’s this human part of her that is flawed but is also the thing that she ends up leading by. It’s the thing that gets her in trouble, but it’s also the thing that makes her great. And those two sides warring against each other is what makes her her.”

So perhaps knowing that the lady is a Skrull would have her react fiercely without giving it a second thought. The Skrulls definitely deserve that but just imagine if that lady weren’t a Skrull. Captain Marvel just returned to Earth and was not used to such niceness by anyone. So, what if that old lady was not a Skrull. That’d paint such a wrong picture for a Superhero and Marvel won’t do that. But still, the way the trailer was arranged, it does spawn the thought whether Captain Marvel was right in spotting a Skrull or not. Knowing how strong she is, the lady would be dead with that blow, and that’d make Carol the “One Punch Woman”!

Captain Marvel comes out on March 8, 2019, and here’s the official Synopsis:

“The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races,” the synopsis reads. “Set in the 1990s, Captain Marvel is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
