Top Gun Sequel Movie Release Date Now Officially Postponed to 2020

When the Top Gun movie first came under the watchful eye of Tony Scott starring a young and energetic and an essential nobody of that time called Tom Cruise, no one thought that it would become a worldwide sensation and the mother of all cult classics that is revered and held sacred even to this day. Top Gun did not just create a wave of hype, it was the primary reason for the American youth to think back and ponder on the fact that joining the armed forces was indeed a cool job. Believe it or not, the US Air Force’s ranks swelled up like crazy right after Top Gun was released in mid-1980. So when Top Gun 2 was announced to be in the works in its parent studio, every fan of the Top Gun universe went insane. But we have a bad news for all the Top Gun fans out there. If you have a need for speed, you need to wait. Presenting – Top Gun Sequel movie release date now officially postponed to 2020!!!

The Top Gun fans need to brace themselves for this saddening piece of news. The parent studio of the cult classic movie, Paramount Pictures, has confirmed that the release date for Top Gun 2 titled “Top Gun: Maverick” has been postponed up to a year. The previous release date was July 12, 2019. The new release date is June 26, 2020. A year folks!!! We have to wait another f*cking year to watch Maverick do his drumrolls in the air again!!!

The official tweet from the Studio’s twitter handle reads:

Top Gun Sequel Movie Release Date

The previous July 12 release date put the movie in a really tight spot. Top Gun: Maverick had a release date that followed Spiderman Homecoming’s sequel Spiderman: Far From Home and Disney’slive-actionn adaptation of The Lion King. With the release date shifted to 2020, the new date now puts the movie square against Mark Wahlberg’s The Six Billion Dollar Man, DCEU’s The Flash, In the Heights and an as of yet untitled Pixar animated production.

This new date provides a rather friendlier environment where Top Gun Maverick has more chance to shine. Paramount is trying to level out and even the competition a bit. No harm is done until now. What they did is understandable if you ask us.

Top Gun Maverick will see the return of Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Miles Teller, Lewis Pullman and Ed Harris. It is also going to include a slew of younger and newer faces of the industry. It will show us a world with a face of both the new and the old. Cruise and Kilmer will reprise their roles as Maverick and Iceman respectively. They will be under the direction of Joseph Kosinski.

The plot of the movie will involve Maverick mentoring the son of Goose (Miles Teller). Cruise has been rather vague and secretive about the movie’s plot elements so we do not have much when it comes to the movie’s official plot line.\

Top Gun hit the theatres on May 12, 1986. The official synopsis of the movie that started it all reads:

The Top Gun Naval Fighter Weapons School is where the best of the best train to refine their elite flying skills. When hotshot fighter pilot Maverick (Tom Cruise) is sent to the school, his reckless attitude and cocky demeanor put him at odds with the other pilots, especially the cool and collected Iceman (Val Kilmer). But Maverick isn’t only competing to be the top fighter pilot, he’s also fighting for the attention of his beautiful flight instructor, Charlotte Blackwood (Kelly McGillis).

Tom Cruise’s latest movie is an action thriller that goes by the name of Mission Impossible: Fallout. It is the sixth installment of the Mission Impossible franchise. The official synopsis of the movie reads:

Ethan Hunt and the IMF team join forces with CIA assassin August Walker to prevent a disaster of epic proportions. Arms dealer John Lark and a group of terrorists known as the Apostles plan to use three plutonium cores for a simultaneous nuclear attack on the Vatican, Jerusalem and Mecca, Saudi Arabia. When the weapons go missing, Ethan and his crew find themselves in a desperate race against time to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands.
