The Matrix – Here’s the One Secret that You Never Notice

Keanu Reeves is truly the chosen one. He is Neo. He is fighting for a better world. He is a humanist. He is the most humble and kind gentleman in the world of entertainment. He loves to spend time with his fans, take pictures with them. He is also a musician par-excellence and a great actor. The Matrix was released in the year 1999 and became a huge box-office success.

The Matrix

Written and directed by The Wachowski Brothers, The Matrix was a movie which was ahead of its time. It brought Artificial intelligence and other terms which are common now, in an era when no one would have even thought about it. Matrix is a fake reality and the real world is ruled by machines created by human beings. Neo was trapped in it and has been living in it from his birth. Morpheus is the member of the group (rebels) who has the ability to hack The Matrix, so he saves the humans from enslavement and recruits them as rebels against the agents.

This particular movie was surely the best in the entire trilogy, as it is damn close to a masterpiece, is still talked about ahead of many of the new age action thriller movies. The reason why this movie was so special was that it was based on a concept so inspiring and unanswerable which leaves endless debates.

Some filmmakers are so amazing that they focus upon each and every detail they put in the movie. Zack Snyder is one of those new age Directors who may not be praised as much as he should be, but back in 1999, it was The Wachowski Brothers who did that, and you would only know if you went through the film frame by frame. These little details sometimes raise some big questions in your mind that you feel the urge to find the answer to really bad.

In the Matrix, there was one such intriguing moment which hides a secret that you never really noticed. In the infamous scene where Neo and apparently everyone who was watching the movie was distracted by the woman in the Red Dress. Mouse you Genius, or as I should say Wachowskis are the real Geniuses as they included the Red Woman here, but that was not the major trick here, in the scene where Neo is being educated in what the Matrix is by Morpheus in a special training simulation created by Mouse.

Neo came across the Red woman and got distracted and that is how Morpheus explained to him the fact that how easily do humans really get distracted. But as we all were distracted in this scene, we missed out on something which would have been apparent if we were looking clearly. As shown in the square boxes marked on the photo above, you can see that this particular scene actually had many extras who looked exactly identical to each other.

Now that you have noticed, you may ask the reason behind it, and as the Directors have revealed the fact that they actually hired identical twins specifically for this scene, and gave them identical haircuts and clothing to create the illusion of duplicate ‘character models’. The reason for doing this was the fact that Mouse had so much coding upon his hands, so this was him just being lazy copying and pasting dozens of lines of the same code resulting in duplicates within the same scene. Watch the scene here:

So this is just amazing on the part of the Directors who have put in so much detail for one scene that no one even notices until and unless they have seen the movie multiple times. The work of such directors should be much appreciated as they make the movies good for even a second, or a third or even a fourth watch as people end up finding new details every time they go through the movie again.

Here’s the official Synopsis of The Matrix:

“Neo (Keanu Reeves) believes that Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne), an elusive figure considered to be the most dangerous man alive, can answer his question — What is the Matrix? Neo is contacted by Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss), a beautiful stranger who leads him into an underworld where he meets Morpheus. They fight a brutal battle for their lives against a cadre of viciously intelligent secret agents. It is a truth that could cost Neo something more precious than his life.”
