Avengers: Infinity War is going to be this massive event we have waited 10 years for. Ever since Iron Man showed up back in 2008, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been building up to Thanos’ arrival. This has been one epic saga that will come to an end with the upcoming two huge team-up movie events, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4. Avengers 4 will mark the new beginning for the MCU as things are going to change drastically.
Till now, Marvel has been marketing the movie in full force releasing new clips, trailers, TV Spots, images, posters, promo arts, action figures, and merchandise. At the same time, they have been keeping things really close to the chest, which is why the grand premiere of the movie Avengers: Infinity War, has been set just 3 days before the worldwide release of the movie. Also, the embargo of the movie will lift on the same day, so that is probably when we will get a general consensus of this movie.
Even after everything is so secretive, we do get to see new posters and stills from the movie all the time. They do not reveal important plot points, but still, they are just amazing to look at and the hype level always shoots up by these little stints. Now, we have got another Imax Poster released and it does not reveal something new, but it is just great. Here, have a look:
There’s absolutely nothing new in it as we have seen the Gauntlet, and almost every marketing promo and image has shown that Thanos only has 2 infinity Stones for the beginning and nothing more. Still, it gives us the feel of the best experience we could get if we do watch the movie in IMAX theatres. The extra screen frame does make the movie experience worthwhile!
This will be the first time there are going to be so many characters involved in a film. Captain America: Civil War already surprised us having so many characters, and now Avengers: Infinity War is 4 times the size of that. The budget of the movie is huge, around 30-35 Superheroes are going to be there, fighting against Thanos and the Black Order, but most importantly, fighting for screen time. Some of these are going to get a quite significant amount of time, and some will not get that much importance, as it won’t make sense if every hero turns out to be equally important.
Cap and Tony are going to have huge roles in the movie, but the character who will appear the most apart from Thanos is going to be Thor. Surprisingly, Joe Russo revealed that Thor will be the one who will turn out to be the most essential one. Here’s what he said:
“Interestingly enough, I’ll start out by saying Thanos, even though he’s not a character that had a huge preexisting story in the Marvel universe. He was a threat but he was not developed in any way up to this point. Thanos has an incredible amount of screen time in this film, in a lot of ways I would say it’s his movie. Our job when we make these films — and what we feel is important to us — is to surprise the audience. We wanted to tell a story that they weren’t expecting, and the story is told from the point of view of a villain, which I think is also really unique and risky for a commercial film that will surprise the audience. I think this is a market where the audience really enjoys innovation and disruption, and we want to do something innovative in this space. So I think Thanos has an incredible amount of screen time, and I think you’ll find that Thor has a really interesting arc in the film. He hasn’t been at the forefront of other Avengers movies but he certainly has a very important role in this film. So I’ll say, Thanos and Thor.”
Avengers: Infinity War will open on April 27, and here’s the official synopsis of the movie:
“As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain”.
