Avengers: Infinity War was a big heist movie where the Thanos was after the 6 singularities of Infinite Power in order to accomplish his life’s goal which was to bring balance to the entire Universe. As it turned out, he was able to do exactly that, but it sure was not easy. There were so many ways in which the Avengers could have stopped him, but at the end of it all, he sneaked the big victory by the snap of his fingers. Neither the Guardians, not the Earth’s mightiest heroes were able to stop him from doing that.
He went to great lengths to gather all the Infinity Stones. It took a big piece of him as he literally had to sacrifice the only person he loved, but if you think about it, he had a lot of unexplained help in the film. He knew the exact locations of every Infinity Stone except for the one at Vormir as only Gamora and Nebula knew the location of that particular Stone. Rest he knew about 2 stones being on Earth, one being on Xandar, one on Thor’s ship and the final one at Knowhere.
What was not properly explained was that how exactly he knew that the Guardians were coming to Knowhere for the Reality Stone. He had already leveled Knowhere and taken the Reality Stone from the Collector, so he could have gone for the other stones himself. We know that he needed Gamora to acquire the Soul Stone, while he sent his Sons and Daughter to Earth in order to retrieve the other two stones. But why would he wait on Knowhere, he could have gone for Gamora any time he wanted to.
When the Guardians arrive on Knowhere thinking they could sneak in and surprise him, it turned out that Thanos had already set a trap for them having acquired the Reality stone, which meant that he knew that they were coming. Otherwise, he would have left Knowhere and gone to look for his daughter, but he stayed and waited for the Guardians so he could capture her then and there. In the movie, Thanos claimed that he was counting on the fact that Gamora would come for the Reality stone, but there is no way in which he could have known that the Guardians were coming for the Reality stone.
The Reality stone was given to the Collector by Asgardians. Thor survived the attack of Thanos and told about the stone to the Guardians when they found him. But Thanos did not know that Thor survived and he would have met the Guardians and told them about the Reality Stone’s location.
Hell, he also could not have known about the Asgardians giving the stone to the Collector, so how could he have expected a chain of communication to be set which brings the Guardians to Knowhere.
The story of the film made it seem highly plausible, but it is actually a very intricate plotting which Thanos could not have known about in any way unless he is Charles Xavier and had a telepathic connection with Thor. So, this may be another one of those impossible plans like the one that Baron Zemo had in Civil War, or Lex Luthor had in Batman V Superman.
Still, the movie was indeed perfect and Josh Brolin was marvelous as the Mad Titan. Written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, and Director by Joe & Anthony Russo, Avengers: Infinity War stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Danai Gurira, Peter Dinklage, Benedict Wong, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Gwyneth Paltrow, Benicio del Toro, Josh Brolin, and Chris Pratt.
