This Avengers: Infinity War Deleted Scene Could Offer Major Soul Stone Clue

Avengers: Infinity War unraveled the big mysteries that Marvel had been building since 10 years and even now, they haven’t solved everything. They have rather left even more questions unanswered as the movie ended. There was a big cliff hanger at the end of the film, which has now created a lot of buzz for the upcoming Avengers 4. Infinity War was a big McGuffin chase and it was the movie that revealed the location of the Soul Stone for the first time!

The biggest question we had going into this movie was the location of the Soul Stone. Out of the many theories going around the net, probably the best one was actually true. It was revealed that the Soul Stone was at Vormir. This was predicted by no one but the way it could be retrieved was another theory going around the net.

As it turned out, Thanos had previously sent Gamora on a mission to fine the Soul Stone and she did, but she lied to Thanos about it. Here, to save Nebula, she had to reveal the location to Thanos, and hence she took him there.

Avengers: Infinity War Director Confirms A Major Theory About Gamora’s Return In Avengers 4

Thanos and Gamora met with the Red Skull at Vormir, who was transferred there by the Space Stone a lifetime ago in Captain America: The First Avenger. He told Thanos the way he could have the Stone for himself. He told him that there had to be a sacrifice of a loved one. Listening to this, Gamora thought that this was never possible as Thanos does not love anyone in the entire Universe.

As it turned out he sacrificed his favorite daughter Gamora, the only person he loved in this universe to get the Soul Stone. This scene was really important to build the character of Thanos as the Mad Titan did have the intensity to love, and the tears in his eyes proved that.

But other than that, Thanos did not explicitly used the Soul Stone anywhere apart from 2 particular occasions. One was obviously the big snap where all the stones were used together in order to wipe out half the population of the entire Universe, but before that Thanos used the stone at Titan.

Avengers: Infinity War – Benedict Cumberbatch Reveals The Fate of Doctor Strange

Infinity War gave almost every big hero an important one on one with Thanos. Iron Man got it, Thor obviously got it, Captain America got half of it, but one of the great scenes in the movie was where Doctor Strange went up against Thanos.

Thanos vs. Doctor Strange was a great scene as it showed how amazingly well Doctor Strange has evolved after his origin story. It seemed that Doctor Strange is now ready to be the next Sorcerer Supreme. He was able to go toe to toe with Thanos, for a couple of minutes! But still it was great and this was the very moment where Thanos used the Soul Stone. Strange put out multiple bodies of himself in order to hold Thanos, but Thanos used the Soul Stone to find the real Doctor Strange, eliminating the soulless Doctor Stranges instantaneously.

Well, there was another deleted scene which may have given us another hint at the powers of the Soul Stone. In the big fight of Iron Man and Thanos, there was an alternate dialogue used, which did not make it to the final cut. The big takeaway from that scene was that Thanos knew Thanos, but in the Dialogue used in the behind the scenes footage, Thanos explicitely talks about Tony’s “soul”. Here, have a look at the scene:

Well, Thanos knowing Tony Stark may actually link to the fact that he may have known his Soul through the Soul Stone, but it will be confirmed in Avengers 4. Hopefully, the movie will solve the mystery of how Thanos knew Tony, and it should also explain why the Soul Stone holds a special place amongst all other stones.
