Is There a Connection Between Ant-Man and the Wasp’s Quantum Realm and Avengers 4?

Ant-Man and the Wasp is out in several key markets and the overall first reaction from both fans and critics is positive. But this is by no means a Marvel blockbuster like Black Panther or Avengers Infinity War this year. Let’s try to figure out if there’s a connection between Avengers 4 and  Quantum Realm.

Ant-Man and the Wasp’s Quantum Realm and Avengers 4

The story is set in the aftermath of Civil War when Scott Lang aka Ant-Man joined Team Cap, but he was captured by the government. Cap came for him but he chose not to become a fugitive, instead accepted the plea deal offered by the government. He is a family guy and has a little daughter.

In the sequel, he will be given another mission by Hank Pym i.e to rescue his wife Janet Van Dyne from the Quantum realm where she is stuck for years. This time he is not alone as Hope Van Dyne is suiting up to become Wasp and go with him on this daring mission.

In every Marvel movie, there are references to comics or easter-eggs for some future plot. Some of them we manage to notice and others we don’t. The director Peyton Reed confirmed that there were several easter-eggs in Quantum realm that we may have missed, here’s what he said:

Ant-Man and the Wasp’s Quantum Realm and Avengers 4

“Yeah, there’s a lot of little-hidden things. I mean, definitely as you go through Hank Pym’s laboratory, on the practical set and then some of the stuff we added later digitally, there are a lot of weird, little Easter eggs and things. And then as we kind of go further down into the Quantum Realm in this movie, there definitely is some things to sort of look for. That was a challenge, the Quantum Realm, ’cause it really could be infinite. It could be anything. And figuring out how much of our story took place in the Quantum Realm and particularly like designing that last act that cross-cuts between the chase and the Quantum Realm. But there’s stuff to look for in there definitely.”

When asked if these easter-eggs have potential ties or link with Avengers 4 or future Ant-Man flicks, he said:

“I can’t say really what are seeds about Avengers 4, or about a potential other Ant Man movie, but I can say that things are definitely in a movie for a reason. I will say that. Whether it’s an actual Easter egg, or whether it’s a misdirect, and I’m very proud of you for sighting the art of misdirection, because it was something that we definitely talked about a lot and became a fanatic in the movie.”

Well, one fan theory is that Quantum realm will allow the remaining Avengers to time travel and undo the damage done by Thanos when he snapped his fingers. But How will it exactly work and Will it make a difference; that’s something we need to look forward to.

The movie has an awesome cast including Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/ Ant-Man, Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne/ Wasp, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Michelle Pfieffer as Janet Van Dyne, Lawrence Fishburne as Dr. Bill Foster, Judy Greer as Maggie (Scott’s former wife), Michael Pena as Luis, Abby Ryder Fortson as Cassie (Scott’s daughter), Walton Goggins as Sonny Burch, Hannah John-Kammen as Ghost, Randall Park as Jimmy Woo.

The movie has already hit the theatres. The official movie synopsis reads:

“Scott Lang is grappling with the consequences of his choices as both a superhero and a father. Approached by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym, Lang must once again don the Ant-Man suit and fight alongside the Wasp. The urgent mission soon leads to secret revelations from the past as the dynamic duo finds itself in an epic battle against a powerful new enemy”.

Paul Rudd will reprise his role as Scott Lang aka Ant-Man in Avengers 4 and Evangeline Lilly aka Wasp will appear for few scenes too. The official plot of the movie is as follows:

“A culmination of 22 interconnected films, the fourth instalment of the Avengers saga will draw audiences to witness the turning point of this epic journey. Our beloved heroes will truly understand how fragile this reality is and the sacrifices that must be made to uphold it.”
