A Solo Hawkeye Movie Is Under Consideration For MCU Phase 4 And Here’s Everything We Know

DC Comics was the biggest contender against Marvel, but looking at what has happened this year, it seems that there is no one that can stop the reign of Marvel. The MCU movies, in particular, have been ruling our hearts for the last 10 years with a 0 failure track record. 19 movies in, we are really happy that we get to witness the most epic Superheroes being brought onto the big screen.  Plus what Black Panther and Infinity War have done, it is clear that whatever Marvel is going to put forward, people are going to watch. Phase 3 is coming to an end next year and Marvel will surely be looking at a different set of movies for Phase 4. Black Widow is already put under development, so that makes us think that why not a Hawkeye solo movie as well?

Marvel has not announced their slate post Avengers 4, as we only know that Spider-Man 2 is going to be the first movie that will hit the theatres next year to begin Phase 4. After that, Marvel has 9 movies scheduled to come out till 2022. The movies in those years are not confirmed yet, except for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which will probably be the first movie to come out in 2020. After that Marvel has an August date in which Marvel usually tries a new project, so we could be seeing the Black Widow solo movie there.

It has been rumored that Hawkeye could be a part of that Black Widow movie as Marvel usually puts Team-up adventures in solo movies now. Captain America: The Winter Soldier had Falcon and Widow, Iron Man 2 had Widow, Civil War had almost everyone, Spider-Man had Iron Man, so you see the pattern there, which could bring Hawkeye to a Black Widow movie.

But why have him in as a supporting role when you can easily produce a solo movie of his own. His demand in Infinity War has proved that people really love Hawkeye and would surely be in for his own solo adventure. People really wanted to see Hawkeye in Infinity War, and are now desperate to see him team up with the surviving Avengers in Avengers 4. His story arc as Ronin sounds even more interesting so the question of whether people will go and watch a solo Hawkeye movie is answered right here. Also, Marvel is the king of marketing and people really trust this brand, so anything they produce will sell.

Jeremy Renner was asked a while ago that would he like to do a solo Hawkeye movie or not. Well, his answer was pretty pleasing, but he did add a condition. Here’s what he said:

“It would be a wonderful thing. Just don’t wait too long! I don’t want to be in my 50s in tights.”

Renner is currently 47 years old, and it seems that he does like the character and wants to do more with it, but he does not want to continue this for a very long time. Many Superhero movie roles require a lot of physical commitment, and at the age of 50 years and more, it does get tough for many actors, but still it is manageable. Renner is in for the role in a solo movie, but if the movie has to happen, it should in the next 2-3 years. Seeing Renner appear in 4 movies with a 5th one already in line, we still feel that we haven’t seen Hawkeye as much as we would have liked. Hopefully, Avengers 4 does give in to our satisfaction, but a solo movie would be really loved by the audiences.

As it turns out, it seems that Marvel does have plans for a Hawkeye solo after all. A few days ago, it was reported by MCU Cosmic that Marvel Studios are considering Solo movies for various heroes, and one of those is for Renner’s Hawkeye. Here’s what the report reads:

“I was told was that Marvel has ideas for a couple of different characters to do some kind of solo film in the future. One of these characters was Hawkeye. And Kevin Feige’s comments of different incarnations of characters coincides with what I was told about Hawkeye. I won’t say anymore because, again, it’s not something that is likely to happen for a long time if at all, but it’s definitely something that is on Marvel Studios’ radar.”
