Here’s Everything You Need To Know About Game of Thrones Prequel Series By HBO

Game of Thrones is not one of them but the greatest fantasy adventure show ever made by mankind. In fact, some say the world is divided into two parts – those who watch GOT and those who don’t. It has become a cultural phenomenon and millions of fans are biting their nails and having restless nights waiting for the last season of this HBO series. While the world is patiently waiting for the last season, they are also sad that the show will end after that. Well, we should not worry as HBO is bringing us something as interesting, which is the Game of Thrones Prequel Series.

As the name has become really big now, HBO would surely want to cash in as much as they can with this name. HBO had put in Five Potential Projects pertaining different aspects and setting up different storylines from the prequels. Well, one of those which is set 1000 years before the events of Game of Thrones is moving forward as HBO has already ordered a Pilot episode for that. Kick-Ass and Kingsman: The Secret Service writer Jane Goldman is working with the series author George R.R. Martin for this one. The above two mentioned people will executive produce the series along with Vince Gerardis, and Daniel Zelman.

HBO’s official log line for the series reads:

“Taking place thousands of years before the events of GAME OF THRONES, the series chronicles the world’s descent from the Golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’s history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.”

Jane Goldman is the one writer for this prequel series and the other writers developing other projects as prequels are Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island), Brian Helgeland (Legend), and Carly Wray (Mad MenThe Leftovers) with the level of involvement from Martin varying from project to project.

This plot itself is very interesting as Game of Thrones is already amongst fantasy from an ancient history, and taking the show 1000 years further into the history would be a challenge to be presented. The show will give us a true origin story of the White Walkers. The Walkers have been passively present in the current series and have slowly and steadily gained more importance and become more prominent on the show. The last season of the show will heavily feature the Walkers as a Great War is upon Westeros! A War which will determine the survival life itself, because if everyone does not take a united stand, this planet would become a land of the dead!

Still, the Walkers will have brought up the hype amongst the audiences, and people would be really eager to see the true source of their existence. Also, the synopsis teases that the prequels will also address the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history. Getting to see more devious characters like Cersei and many others would be where the fun begins. Also, the various mysteries of the East will be unveiled.

The fans of the original series have really loved the Starks and every Stark death except for maybe Reckon who just could not freakin’ Zig-Zagg has saddened the audiences. Well, the prequel should be all for the fans as it will bring the Starks to glory and we won’t see important Stark characters be mutilated like they are in the original series. The Starks of legend will come into play which is what may drive the show forward.

Reports suggest that all the five projects which are under works may not get an individual series, but we could expect at least 3 of those be turned into TV series and the rest of them may be employed to further the plot of the ones which have been turned into a series. No official air date has been given as of now for the prequel series, but we have been assured that the series will not air until the final season of Game of Thrones hit HBO. In fact, the show will come at least a year later than GoT season 8 which will come out next year.
