Kevin Feige Accidentally Reveals The Next Big MCU Superhero Post Captain Marvel

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has some exciting news for you. After spearheading back to back Marvel Studios Blockbusters like Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War, Kevin Feige has gone into overdrive trying to pick out the perfect superheroes to be portrayed in their own solo projects in the future MCU projects after Phase 4. Turns out, Captain Marvel isn’t going to be the only Superhero with the name ‘Marvel’ to grace the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel Comics has another superhero that shares a similar name. Kamala Khan aka Captain Marvel is a superhero from the comic books and she is the next big thing from Marvel Studios. That’s right folks. After Captain Marvel, Marvel Studios working on another superhero – Ms. Marvel!!!

Kevin Feige was recently in an interview with BBC where he stated that the Studio does have plans for including Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel in the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although he did say Marvel Studios is working on conscripting Ms. Marvel into the movies, the Studio head did not reveal as to how they plan on doing that. Including Ms. Marvel, a famous comic book superhero into a universe that already seems crowded with so many popular heroes and making the newly introduced superhero stand out will be a herculean task. And it is a task that Marvel is willing to face head on in the coming years. But exactly how do they plan on doing this is everyone’s best guess.

Here is the official video of Kevin Feige’s interview released by the BBC via their twitter account:

Feige says and we quote:

Captain Marvel‘s shooting right now with Brie Larson,” Feige said. “Ms. Marvel, which is another character in the comic books, the Muslim hero who is inspired by Captain Marvel, definitely sorts of in the works. We have plans for that once we introduce Captain Marvel.”

Kamala Khan was introduced to the Marvel Comics in 2013. She was created by editors Sana Amanat and Stephen Wacker. Kamala Khan debuted in Captain Marvel #14 before featuring in her own comic book series starting with Ms. Marvel #1. Kamala Khan is a Muslim teenager living in America who idolizes Captain Marvel. She finds herself in the midst of a terrigen mist cloud when a bomb explodes right over her city, washing the entire city with the Inhuman mutagen. Kamala Kahn undergoes terrigenesis and later discovers she is an Inhuman. She now has the ability to change her size and shape as well as possessing a healing factor.

Khan would later adopt the identity of Ms. Marvel, a superhero alter ego that used to belong to Captain Marvel before Carol Danvers left it to become well, Captain Marvel. Kamala Kahn, as the new Ms. Marvel, starts fighting crime in her own city and becomes a well-known superhero. She would later be a part of the Avengers and the Protectors, as well as help, start a new version of the superhero team popularly called the Champions.

Kamala Khan has been one of Marvel Comics’ greatest additions to their newer roster of superheroes. Kamala Khan is a Muslim teenager who has helped her character relate with a lot of the minority comic book reading youths of the country who have always felt underrepresented in the comics that have always been about white-skinned superheroes saving the day. Ms. Marvel has always had a strong comic book fan base. Each time her character was relaunched, she managed to portray herself as a beacon of equality and hope and was a better character every time she got the comic book equivalent of a facelift.

We still do not know how Ms. Marvel will be introduced into the MCU. Maybe she will feature in the new Captain Marvel movie before starring in her own standalone project like she did in the comic books. That would give Ms. Marvel a sense of poetic justice.  Meanwhile, Kamala Khan will appear as Ms. Marvel in the new Marvel animated movie titled Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors. The movie will feature a new breed of superheroes that will one day take over the current generation of Avengers and become the Earth’s mightiest heroes in the near future.
