Infinity War – The Russo Brothers Have Finally Confirmed Major Soul Stone Theory

Infinity War is the greatest comic-book event in the history of Marvel and there was no way it would have been adopted on the big screen by MCU like any other movie. It was a decade in the making as the previous 18 MCU movies led to this gigantic showdown between the ultimate definition of evil i.e Thanos and the Earth’s mightiest protectors ‘The Avengers’ and Guardians of the Galaxy as well.

The movie has broken all box office records and has become the fastest ever to have reached $1 Billion in worldwide collections and still it is yet to open in major countries including China. It is incredibly poised to breach $2 Billion barrier as well when all is said and done.

Apart from shattering box office records, the movie has broken new ground as well. For the first time, Marvel rose to the occasion, adopted darker tone (with a slight dash of humor) and had insanely high stakes which have dramatically altered the universe.

When Thanos succeeded in collecting all six stones, he actually used them all by snapping his fingers resulting in wiping off half the humanity and now he could finally rest as he has achieved his purpose in life i.e to bring balance to the universe. With deaths comes questions and with lots of deaths, come lots of questions!!

Avengers: Infinity War delivered on its promise. It was unlike any Marvel movie we had ever seen. Death graced the movie like a storm and gripped it tight as chaos ensued until the very end.

A lot of heroes died. Some were so tragic and heart wrenching that we are still reeling from the aftermath. But wait we have some good news. One of those deaths is not permanent if the Russo Brothers – the directors of Infinity War are to be believed. And it has something to do with the Soul Stone. Infinity War Directors have finally confirmed Major Soul Stone Theory!!

SPOILER ALERT: Major Spoilers for Infinity War up ahead….

Joe Russo, one of the co-directors of Infinity War has recently confirmed that one of the deaths in Infinity War was not how it seemed. A hero is actually alive and well. Can you guess which hero we are talking about?

It’s Gamora!! Joe Russo has confirmed that Gamora is not dead. She is alive and inside Soul World, the pocket universe that exists within the Soul Stone, rumored to be the most powerful of all the Infinity Stones in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

With half the universe wiped out, it would be foolish to think all those deaths could be reversed in Avengers 4. But some of the heroes might be coming back to the game. Spider-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy already have their own solo projects slated for release in the near future.

The hugely popular Black Panther is also one of the names in the Infinity War casualty lists but we reckon he won’t stay dead for long as he is too popular for Marvel Studios to let go so easily. Some deaths are slated to be permanent though.

The deaths of Vision, Loki, and Heimdall are reportedly going to stick if rumors are to be trusted. While their does exit a conflicting rumor that Vision might be back, we have to trust the former reports since they come from trusted sources. The Black Order is also not going to be back which is a disappointing end to their journey.

Gamora’s death was also thought to be permanent until Joe Russo claimed otherwise. When Gamora died on Vormir at the hands of Thanos, everyone felt sad for the fiercest woman of the Galaxy. She ended up being a sacrifice for the Mad Titan to get the Soul Stone. But there’s more to the story than what meets the eye.

Joe Russo visited an Iowa City High school where he answered a barrage of questions from the press and the fans. One reporter from the Iowa City Press-Citizen asked Joe Russo whether the Orange dimension that Thanos visited right after snapping his fingers and ending half the universe had another meaning.

It is there that Thanos first saw the child version of Gamora after he had sacrificed her soul on Vormir. Joe Russo claims, the orange void housed within the soul stone is the key to bringing back Gamora from the dead. He says:

“Yeah it’s implied [that] it’s the Soul Stone. It’s all orange around, then he’s inside the Soul Stone with the amount of power that it took to snap his fingers – he has this out of body experience with Thanos. When he goes inside the Soul Stone he has this kind of conversation with the younger version of his Gamora.”

The Soul World is housed within the Soul Stone. In the comics too, the Soul World has been a very important plot element. It has housed not only Gamora but other heroes like Adam Warlock and Hank Pym. When asked whether Gamora is still alive within the Soul Stone, given the fact that she was ‘sacrificed’ to the Infinity Stone in the first place, Joe Russo claims:

“She in fact is, yes. It was an attempt on our part – because we don’t like two dimensional roles or three dimensional villains every villain is a hero in their own story and as insane and psychotic and brutal and violent as Thanos is he’s a more complex villain if you go on a journey with him emotionally. He does care for things and it is complicated for him to execute his plan and it cost him something. He said at the end that it cost him everything and that it was the only thing he loved which was Gamora which is why we put him back with her at the end. I just want to reiterate with the audience that he does feel true emotion even though he is a monster.”

Avengers: Infinity War is already in theaters. Directed by Russo brothers. Produced by Kevin Feige and a group of executive producers including Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee. The script is written by two creative minds – Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

The ensemble cast is truly remarkable as Marvel has asembled some of the biggest stars under single roof including Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Josh Brolin (Thanos), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Pratt (Star Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Sebastian Stan (Winter soldier), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), Vin Diesel (Groot), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Reiner (Hawkeye), Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr. Strange), Benedict Wong (Wong), Tom Holland (Spiderman), Letitia Wright (Shuri), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlett Witch), Karen Gillian (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Dave Bautista (Drax), Paul Bettany (Vision), Peter Dinklage (Eitri), Samuel Jackson (Nick Fury), Cobie Smulders (Mariah Hill).

The official movie synopsis is as under:

“Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet — the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artifacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain as everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment”.

“As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain”.
