Here’s Why Venom Will Not Wear The Spider Symbol In The Movie

Venom is Sony’s big upcoming project that we need to look forward to this year. Coming out in almost 6 months, the anticipation for this movie was not a lot, but as soon as Tom Hardy’s name got attached to the flick, people became really into it from there on. We got a teaser which came out in February, but that teaser gave us no Alien Symbiote at all. There was a big reason behind that as the movie had only finished production back then, so the special effects did not finish till then. So obviously, we could not have got a look at this anti-hero back then.

Sony showed a trailer for the movie at Cinema Con, and the first look at Tom Hardy’ Eddie Brock morphing into Venom got leaked. After that, Sony released the brand new trailer for Venom, and the world got to see how amazing this movie could actually be. Throughout the trailer, we got to see a brief intro into the story of the movie, how Alien Symbiote got attached to Eddie Brock, a tease at the Villains and the love interest of Eddie Brock, Ann Weying.

People did not have very high hopes with Venom, but after seeing Alien Symbiote take form in the trailer, it was clear that Sony is not screwing around with Alien Symbiote anymore. They have already messed once, but this time things look to be different as Venom looks to be stripped straight out of the comics. People absolutely love this look of Venom and it is very comic accurate. The Eyes, the teeth, the tongue and the sadistic smile that Alien Symbiote has have been totally nailed.

Venom is actually going to be bulkier and bigger in size this time. The reason why Sony was able to achieve that was because of the use of CGI. Hardy did not get to wear a suit this time, as the Alien Symbiote will form around Eddie Brock’s body, growing him taller in size and making him bulkier. This allows Alien Symbiote to be totally similar to the way he was written and shown in the comics. The one thing that we haven’t seen properly and seems to be missing from Venom’s look is the trademark Spider-Symbol that he has in the comics.

We only got to see Alien Symbiote from the neck top, and we did not get a look at his chest and Torso which actually contains the Symbol. From what we saw, it looks as if Alien Symbiote does not have the big trademark Spider Symbol that he usually does everywhere else. The reason for this is going to be because of the separation of Venom from Spider-Man.

Venom, as we know, is the villain of Spider-Man and later on, he became the anti-hero. Sony is focussing upon the latter part and totally separating Alien Symbiote from Spider-Man. The  Alien Symbiote has the ability to retain the powers it acquires from its previous Alien Symbiote. This is why it is able to retain the powers of Spider-Man because he bonded with Peter Parker before actually fusing with Eddie Brock.

But here, there’s not going to be any Spider-Man, so having a relation to Spider-Man by portraying the Spider-Symbol makes no sense at all. This Alien Symbiote will not even have the powers of Spider-Man, so it won’t shoot any web. But, the reason it will be able to work similar to Spider-Man will be because Alien Symbiote can extend itself to great lengths and that will allow it to swing and fight like Spider-Man, but at the same time, be much more different and powerful.

Spider Symbol venom

This is why Eddie Brock having the powers of Spider-Man and showing off the Spider-Symbol will make no sense at all. Here’s everything you need to know before you go see Venom in the theatres:

“Before the story begins, Venom makes an agreement with Spider-Man that they will leave each other alone, on the condition that Venom commits no crimes. Venom then moves from New York City to San Francisco and takes up with a group of Californian mole people. Shortly thereafter the father of one of Venom’s victims seeks him out with a group of super-powered mercenaries to take revenge. Spider-Man, seeing misleading coverage of Venom on television, heads to San Francisco to confront him and instead winds up fighting alongside Venom against five new offspring of the Venom Symbiote: Scream, Phage, Riot, Lasher, and Agony.”

Venom will come out on October 4.
