Here’s Everything You Need To Know About The Upcoming Suicide Squad 2

The third movie in the DCEU, Suicide Squad which was directed by David Ayer, was a big box office hit for Warner Bros. So, a sequel to the movie was inevitable. This was the first time ever that a team of bad guys united to do something good, and save the world. Suicide Squad got a lot of backlash due to the plot it had, but it worked really well because of the characters it had. Will Smith’s Deadshot and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, in particular, were the ones who held the entire movie on their backs.

The movie assembled a whole array of DC characters including Deadshot (Will Smith, The Pursuit of Happyness & Seven Pounds), Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman, RoboCop & Easy Money), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney,  Divergent & Water Diviner), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie, The Wolf of Wallstreet), Katana (Karen Fukuhara), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne, Anna Karenina & upcoming Pan),  Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye- Agbaje), El Diablo (Jay Hernandez), Slipknot (Adam Beach), Amanda Waller (Viola Davis, Prisoners  & The Help) and Joker (Jared Leto, Mr. Nobody & Dallas Buyers Club).

The second movie may not have the dead characters from the previous one as Enchantress and Diablo died in the first one. So they may not return for the sequel, rest every other cast member would be coming back, along with other added villains in the squad. Out of the many projects that are under works in the DCEU, Suicide Squad 2 is another project that is in active production. Recently, it was reported that WB has found a new director for the movie. The Accountant director Gavin O’Connor has taken over David Ayer’s DC Adaptation of the Supervillain Team-up movie for a sequel. WB hopes to start shooting for the movie in late 2018, and it will probably hit the theatres in early 2020.

The movie was supposed to come out next year, but due to the cast members having other projects signed up, and drastic changes in the roster of the DCEU after the failure of Justice League, Suicide Squad will be pushed to 2020. It is supposed to start production later this year. The movie has been written by Adam Cozad, Gavin O’Connor, John Ostrander, Zak Penn, and Anthony Tambakis.

This movie should not face the problem that the first movie did, as the script of the first movie was written down in just 6 weeks. Now, so many writers are involved with the movie and the movie has been under development for a while, so the plot should turn out to be good. Rest the villain of the movie was recently rumoured to be Dwayne The Rock Johnson’s Black Adam.

The first movie introduced magic into the DCEU, and the upcoming Shazam! origin story will bring in even more magical stuff, so having Black Adam as the villain would not only feel justified, but the movie will get a huge push as the star power of Dwayne Johnson would also be added along with Will Smith and Margot Robbie.

Just recently, Johnson confirmed that the shooting for his solo Black Adam film will begin in the next year, so he may not be the villain of Suicide Squad 2, because his character may be built up to be the villain in the sequel of Shazam! But who knows what may happen. If not Black Adam, then the main villain for SS2 would surely turn out to be The Joker. People did not like how Joker was totally edited in the first movie, so WB and DC may listen to the fans by bringing him as the big bad!

Suicide Squad

The director of The Accountant is a great choice to direct the sequel of Suicide Squad, and we can expect it to be much better and intimidating than the first one was. The first movie was big on the Box Office as it earned $745 Million, so not just the sequel and but a threequel maybe also be in the minds of WB. Viola Davis (Amanda Waller) signed a 3 picture deal with WB, so we could imagine that WB are planning for a Suicide Squad 3 if Suicide Squad does really well. Let’s hope that WB does justice to this team up movie.
