The Solo: A Star Wars Story marketing campaign could be considered in utter shambles. All the money in the world won’t help a movie if they do not even realize the fact that keeping their own established fan base in the dark and confused for so long will only hurt them in the end. As it turns out, a Major Villain in Solo: A Star Wars Story still does not have a confirmed actor!!!
Can you guess exactly which character we are talking about???
It is Enfys Nest, long touted as the real big bad of the movie. Enfys Nest has long been kept a secret throughout the entire movie’s production and marketing campaign. The Solo movie has tended to only focus on the most familiar of faces. Lando Calrissian, Chewbacca, and of course Han Solo are getting the most spotlight. But what about the villains!?!?! Qi’ra and Tobias are also getting ample attention from the Studio and the audience. But villains like Enfys Nest and Dryden Vos are escaping everyone’s eyes. Does the Studio know about this and they are just trying to distract attention or has LucasFilm become just that incompetent after The Last Jedi???? Both Vos and Nest have been featured in the tie-in merchandise like Posters and associated Star Wars toy lines and accessories but the nature and purpose of their roles in still by and large, a mystery.
LucasFilm has always been infamous for their iron clad marketing campaign, with plot details being always scarce and leaks being extremely rare for their cast and crew to spill. So we are not that surprised if the Solo movie is getting similar treatment. But what irks the fans is the fact that even with just a month before it is released, Solo has still not revealed the true identity of the Villain. Star Wars is a franchise for making lovable villains like Darth Vader and Kylo Ren, who have become the very face of the Star Wars even more than the Protagonists themselves. For now, we even do not know if Enfys Nest is a guy or a woman!! That is the level of secrecy LucasFilm is making the Star Wars team stick to.
The Enfys Nest character came to the spotlight after the trailer was released and LucasFilm announced the character details for each of the Star Wars Characters for Solo. Enfys happened to be the only guy/girl who missed being credited. There was no actor’s name beside Nest. The IMDB page also makes no mention of the actor portraying Enfys Nest in the movie. While even background characters are mentioned in the page, Enfys was not. LucasFilm has done this kind of thing in the past when they hid the secret that Palpatine was ousted as the wolf in sheep’s clothing during the character details being revealed for the Phantom Menace. LucasFilm did a mistake then and they are making sure they do not repeat it again.
There is a fan favorite theory that Enfys is actually Qi’ra in disguise. She is playing both sides to make sure her objectives are met. Maybe that is what turned Solo from an idealist to a cynic in the later Star Wars movies. If Enfys is indeed Qi’ra, the Solo A Star Wars movie might just be heading to a mother of all twists at the end. The chronology of events of the movie, according to the trailer, is also haywire. Qi’ra is definitely present with Han when he makes the Kessel Run. So if the Kessel Run happened before the big reveal of the villain as Qi’ra, then what about the Conveyex heist and the wild-west shoot out seen in the trailer? How do they connect?
Or maybe it is al just for naught and Qi’ra is not actually Enfys Nest but a real damsel in distress who wants Han’s help to sort out her stuff. Maybe Enfys Nest is just the nameless leader of the Cloud-Rider gang after all. Whatever the case may be, LucasFilm is playing it too close to the chest for its own good. If the end isn’t worth the reveal, the fans will not make it easy for the franchise to step up anymore.
