Avengers: Infinity War is almost upon us, as it is just 1 day away. We are so close to the biggest Superhero ensemble that has ever happened on the big screen and there is no stopping this movie from going crazy at the box office and pleasing all the fans and the critics. It is the most anticipated movie of this year and it will be the beginning of the culmination of whatever has happened in the MCU till now.
This is one of the greatest comic-book events in the history of Marvel universe. Since 2008, when MCU officially made its debut with Iron Man, 18 Marvel movies have come out and they have all led us to this epic conclusion where Avengers are finally up against the most dreaded and terrifying villain they have ever faced. The Infinity War will see around 67 major comic-book characters and almost half of which are superheroes.
This movie is going to be a heist flick where Thanos and his Black Order will be after the 6 Infinity Stones that are scattered throughout the Universe. Here’s what Russos said about the movie:
“With “Infinity War,” the biggest new element to the movie is Thanos and the fact that he’s entering the storytelling in a very bold, strong way, to the degree that he’s almost one of the leads. We’ve shaped an interesting narrative around him that in some ways leans heavily on a heist film in the fact that he’s going after the infinity stones in a much bolder, successful way than he has in the past. The entire movie has that energy of the bad guy being one step ahead of the heroes. We looked at a lot of movies that had that heist-style energy to them, and that brought some inspiration”.
Till now only 5 of them have shown up, and the sixth one, which is the Soul Stone is still a big mystery. Before the release of Black Panther, fans believed that Soul stone is hidden somewhere in the Kingdom of Wakanda under the protection of Black Panther. And it made a lot of sense as this could have been the way to set up Avengers Infinity War. But the movie had no mention of Infinity stone nor anything was teased in the post-credits.
There have been almost 20 Legit theories circulating around the internet, suggesting the location of the Soul Stone but so far none of them have been confirmed. One theory is that Hawkeye is absent from the trailers and TV spots is because he is on a mission with Yakuzas to retrieve Soul stone from an undisclosed location.
The writers of the movie, Stephen McFeely & Christopher Markus have claimed that all the theories that have been going around the internet are not even close to what the plot of the movie is.
The most popular theory for the big reveal of Soul Stone is the THANOS theory. This suggests that every letter of the word ‘Thanos’ relates to the location of each Infinity Stone. This goes as follows:
T – The Space Stone is the Tesseract
H – The Soul Stone is with Heimdall
A – The Reality Stone is in the Aether
N – The Time Stone is in the Necklace (Eye of Agamoto)
O – The Power Stone was in the Orb
S – The Mind Stone was in the Sceptre
5 of these Stones were revealed in the MCU in this way only. The sixth one, which is the Soul Stone is believed to be in a place that starts with the Letter H. Heimdall is considered to be that H because he can see all the Souls of the Universe. This one seems really nice and fitting, but it is not going to be true as the writers of Infinity War have totally debunked this one. They called this to be really vague and bad writing.

McFeely – “That seems fairly random”
Markus – “I don’t think that’s how you go about writing a good script”
McFeely – “It really isn’t. ‘You know, it’d be great to put the soul stone here but it’s not an O,’ or whatever the hell it is.”
Markus – “We need an O planet.”
Well, many fans were hoping this to be true and they are going to be disappointed. But they should not feel bad as the Stone will be hidden in a place we cannot even expect which is actually a great thing. It will be the biggest surprise which we won’t see it coming.
Regardless of where it is located, Thanos will find it and assemble it in the gauntlet. In fact, a video footage showed Thanos having Soul stone in his possession. There is a good reason why Soul stone is considered to be the most powerful of them all. It literally grants the user the control over souls of the entire universe in the past, present or future. This is the only Infinity stone which is a sentient being i.e it has a life of its own. Moreover, it even has a set of parents, mother being the first star of the universe and father is destruction itself.
Along with Mind stone, the wielder controls both the minds and souls of the entire universe. This particular Infinity Stone fires energy blasts at opponents which destroys him spiritually and psychologically. In comics, Soul stone was once used by elders of the universe to kill Galactus, Devourer of Worlds. How can Thanos be defeated if he has the Soul stone? Well, we will soon find out.
Avengers: Infinity War will come out on April 27, 2018. It is directed by Joe & Anthony Russo aka Russo brothers who are famous for executing big comic-book ensemble movies. It is produced by Marvel President Kevin Feige along with a set of executive producers including God of Marvel comics Stan Lee, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and Michael Grillo. The screenplay has been written by a talented duo – Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
