The Power Stone is an Infinity Stone that grants you total control over one aspect of the universe, namely unlimited power. The Power Stone is one of the Six Infinity Stone and is used to assemble the Infinity Gauntlet, the mystical artifact that grants its wielder the power to control the entire Marvel Universe.

It is also known as ‘The Orb’. It is purple in color and was first spotted in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1. Almost every character was chasing this purple ingot with planet-destroying powers. Taneleer Tivan aka The Collector is a man with a vast collection of powerful cosmic objects secured Reality stone after Thor’s battle with Malekith and almost got hold of Power stone. Gamora was hired by ‘The Collector’ to bring rest of the Outlaws who had the Orb but Star-Lord led the escape from the Collector’s facility and decided to keep Infinity Stone in Xandar’s vaults under the protection of one of the greatest fighting forces ‘Nova Corps’.

In the movie trailer for Infinity War, it is shown that Thanos already possesses the Power Stone when he comes to Earth. It means that Mad Titan must have invaded Xandar and retrieved cosmic singularity from Nova Corps. It is believed that this is the first Infinity stone that he went after and then he blocked the way of Thor’s ship when he was heading to Earth along with Loki, Hulk, and remaining Asgardians after the events of Ragnarok.

It is the leftover of a God from a previous Universe

The Power Stone’s connection to that era was that it is but a small fragment containing the fraction of a power of a God from the previous universe. Hence, it serves as a bridge between Old Gods and New Gods so that the entire universe remains in order. Galactus aka Devourer of the Worlds belongs to that universe.

Whoever possesses the stone gets access to and control over all forms of energy that ever was is or will be. The Power Stone by itself augments the powers of its user and grants him or her, immense control over all forms of energy. The only known movie that showed the Celestials in the spotlight was Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1. In the movie, it was told by the Collector that the Power Stone was the instrument used by the Celestials to judge worlds and destroy them if deemed unworthy. While the comic books hold no such knowledge, the movies offer us a necessary insight. So Power stone played the role of an executioner.

It is produced by Marvel President Kevin Feige and a group of executive producers such as Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee.
