Infinity War – Here’s Why Thanos Will Be The Reason of His Own Defeat

Avengers: Infinity War is going to bring in almost 67 characters of relevance at the beginning of the epic finale event. The hype cannot be controlled anymore as it is just 15 days away from us. Still, this fortnight feels like decades as we have already waited a lot for this movie, and seeing all the footage that Marvel has released till now, the excitement level has gone past the skies and reached the solar system!

10 years of build-up, and we are finally so close to seeing Infinity War. This movie will finally bring in the Mad Titan in the center, grabbing all the Infinity Stones, wreaking all sorts of Havoc against Earth’s mightiest heroes. Marvel has been setting him as the Darth Vader of this era and fans are going to be really disappointed if this build up is not up to the mark.

We have waited to see Thanos appear properly in live action for 6 whole years ever since he popped up in the mid-credits scene of the first Avengers movie. Thanos is going to be the all-powerful villain, stronger than anyone that has ever appeared in the MCU till now.

He is going to collect all the Infinity Stones in this one, and if he does that, he will have the power to wipe out half of the Universe with a snap of his fingers. So, how does someone with this insane amount of power be stopped? There are around 34 heroes that are going to assemble in this movie, so let’s do a head count of the ones we know could have a huge impact on Thanos.

Iron Man and his suits, Black Panther and his tech, Doctor Strange and his mystical abilities, Hulk, Thor, Cap (maybe not), Vision and Scarlet Witch. Rest everyone has the power levels which cannot do anything against the likes of Thanos. Captain America has been added to that list because he stood up to Thanos in the trailers. Rest we saw how all these powerful heroes were struggling against the Mad Titan and the Black Order when they had to fight them individually.

So, them coming together along with other less powerful superheroes may be a strong defense, but with Thanos having all the Infinity Stones on his gauntlet or even one or two of them, it should not really matter that much as the Avengers would still be of no match against the Mad Titan. So how will Thanos be defeated?

Captain Marvel could be a key to defeating Thanos, but she is not due to be in the third of the movie as she will probably be there during the post-credits scenes. Still, we saw how a celestial destroyed an entire planet with just the Power Stone, so how can someone be defeated if they have all 6 of them. None of these heroes match the power levels of the Mad Titan, and even if they combine their powers, Thanos even without the Gauntlet might be stronger.

Thanos received a lot of backlash growing up, that is why he is called the Mad Titan, ‘cause he destroyed his own planet over that grudges he had. So, being so powerful for someone who has huge ego issues could lead to their downfall. It is said that over confidence and proudness is what kills an immensely powerful being.

Even in the comics, Thanos was defeated because of himself. His arrogance is what caused him to ignore certain things and allowed the Superheroes to take him down. The Russo Bros are pitching him as someone who has no weakness at all, so perhaps the only way Thanos could be taken down is through getting into his nerves.

The Arrogant Titan would make a mistake when challenged by beings weaker than him, and the Avengers will have to look for that particular opportunity. As they say – You are only as strong as your weakest link. Thanos’ big ego will become the reason for his downfall.

In the second Avengers trailer, where we saw the iconic moment stripped straight out of the Comics as Cap stood up to the Mad Titan alone. In that particular scene, we could see a sense of self-doubt on the face of Thanos, and that may be the way to gain a sort of upper hand against him. There would be no other way to take down the big purple warlord.

Well, in the end, Thanos will be defeated but not without wreaking terrible havoc on Earth. Millions will die in the carnage unleashed by Thanos and his forces; some of our favorite superheroes will fall on the battlefield as well. The Russos have also confirmed this and asked fans to better be prepared for a heartbreak as there will be permanent deaths in the MCU. Here is what they said:

“We love being told good stories, and we love telling good stories, and all of our energy, and our effort, and our thought, and our passion goes into telling the best story that we can. And for us, the best stories have stakes. Characters have to make sacrifices. To really, really feel the true emotion and the hero’s journey they have to go through trials and those trails could cost them something”.

“So, for us, its very important that the heroes feel pain and that they make sacrifices because I think that, not only is a great storytelling, but it also is inspiring and I think we need a lot of inspiration in this world right now. So, for us, I don’t know if we can ever get you to accept it, but I promise you this: we’ll do our damnedest to tell you the best story possible, and what you do with it from there is up to you.”
