Deadpool 2 Final Trailer Holds No Punches – Here’s The Breakdown And Easter Eggs

Ryan Reynolds redeemed himself in the comic book genre when his screen test for Deadpool was leaked to the general public. The populace decided to forgive Reynolds for his past atrocities as the Weapon XI in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and then as Hal  Jordan in DC’s Green Lantern.

The blasphemous acts that were committed by Reynolds against the greater good of our comic verse were repented and compensated for when the man decided to Dawn the red suit of the Merc with a mouth. Although Fox Studios is set to be acquired by Disney (presumably over the course of the next financial year) the franchise of superhero movies under the umbrella of Fox Studios continues to grow.

Now the fans get to see a new installment in the Deadpool franchise. One thought to be dead and scrapped by the studio long ago as a cash block now emerges as their headliner. The studio seems to have realized their mistake and is now leaving no stone unturned while promoting the second installment in the franchise a fact that seems readily apparent now that the final trailer for Deadpool 2 is out.

So without further ado here’s the breakdown of the final Deadpool 2 trailer (as a bonus to fans I have added some Easter eggs and callbacks from the trailer. Enjoy.)

The trailer starts with our reintroduction to the character of time traveling futuristic mutant known as Cable. Dead pool re-iterates the premise that has already been set up by previous trailers and marketing shenanigans.

We’re introduced to Cable and the kid. And we’re told yet again that the time traveling badass chunk of muscle that is Cable is here to take down the kid. Who is this kid and what is he doing here, we don’t know, but we can be sure that he affects the future of (let’s call it) the Deadpool verse in a Maan or way for Cable to be after him. We see quick shots of Cable fighting and putting down alone Wade Wilson.

“Cable : You’re no fucking hero, you’re just a clown dressed up as a sex toy

Wade Wilson / Deadpool: So Dark, are you sure you’re not from the DC universe”

Deadpool spits blood as Cable plunges a knife into his back and we get this gem of a dialogue. The trailers premise is that Wade is not strong or intelligent enough to stop Cable alone so he must call in other metahumans and mercenaries to help him out protecting this kid.

Deadpool 2 x-men characters

The X-Force exceptionally stands out in that trailer with JesseBedlam, Shatterstar, Domino and even Pete getting some much-needed screen time in the trailer.  The studio has finally confirmed what the fans have been speculating for a long time, that Shatterstar is in the movie and that Terry Crews is, in fact, playing the mutant with electromagnetic pulse powers vis a vis Jesse Bedlam.

Throughout the trailer, we see classic Deadpool tropes like the fourth wall breaks and Wade Wilson using his overpowered regenerative abilities to diffuse the situation with his witty one-liners. One thawing that stands out is the fact that Cable is completely overwhelming the group of mercenaries that Wilson has attempted to put together.

Not only that it seems that even the X-Men who’ve come to help Wilson in the quest for rescuing a misunderstood mutant kid (as is the X-Men’s primary prerogative) including Colossus and Negasonic teenage warhead are all no match for Cable’s immense power and combat prowess.

In the words of Deadpool

“Pump the hate brakes, Thanos”

It seems a safe assumption that the casting directors at Fox studios chose Josh Brolin to play Cable for the reason that apart from looking uncategorically badass the man is also playing Thanos in Infinity War for the Marvel cinematic universe which gives way for some major and hilarious fourth wall breaks such as the one mentioned above.

The trailer also includes some hilarious fight scenes between the fox studios’ iteration of the X-force and Cable and there are government hit squads quarreling in the midst of it all? Why?

Because the kid is there and it seems that the Kid’s mutations are going to be the major source of conflict in the movie. The second Deadpool movie seems that much more grander in size and scope and with so many parties quarreling together we are sure to see some heart-pumping action incorporated with pesky and cheeky humor.

Not only that but the trailer also includes instances from the movie where, despite the seriousness of the issue, Deadpool surprises everyone with his immature and sarcastic attitude. Well, it can never be a Deadpool movie without some craziness and sexual humor is thrown into the mix.

Deadpool hits theatres on May 18, 2018 starring Terry Crews as Jesse Bedlam, Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson/ Deadpool, , Josh Brolin as Cable, Zazie Beatz as Domino, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Morena Baccarin as Copycat, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Julian Dennison as the Kid, Stefan Kapicic as Colossus, and Lesli Uggams as Blind Al the roommate to Deadpool.

Bonus: Pete Wisdom and Kitty Pryde

As the trailer carries on we see a rather sinister and deceiving trope repeated again and again. It is thrown into our faces time and again by the editors in hopes that we’ll not figure out what is right in front of our faces. But guess what? We are not the plebs you think that we are, Fox Studios. No sir. We are comic fans, and we know that where there is smoke there is fire.

The trailer and the ones before it has continued to showcase a man named Peter who shows up for the auditions of the team that Weasel and Deadpool are putting together. Upon being asked what his superpower is the fat and jolly character immediately replies that he does not have one, he just saw the ad and wanted it. Perhaps it is the enthusiasm of the man that Wade finds enticing because he is hired by the merc with a mouth almost instantly.

Who is this Pete guy and why is the studio including an average joe in a movie about superpowered mutants beating up other super-powered mutants over a child who may be the ruler of our world because of his super powerful mutation. Well, the answer is quite simple really.

Peter is not an average Joe. The prevailing theory is that the character represented and rebranded to us as a Peter is actually Pete Wisdom from the Marvel comics. Pete Wisdom was the man up who used to date the X-Men member Kitty Pryde and he’s also one of the former members of X-force from the Marvel comics.

If you think that is evidence enough, you better hold onto your hats because I’m about to blow your mind. Another reason as to why the confirmation of Pete Wisdom in Deadpool 2 is confirmed because the character has had a twitter account since the last two months by the name of Peter W. Not only that, this particular account is the one of the two followed by the official Deadpool 2 twitter handle. The other being Hello Kitty. If that is not a Deadpoolesque reference to a couple of Peter Wisdom and Kitty Pryde then I don’t know what is.

Bonus: The Kid and his Powers

It seems as though Cable and Deadpool are not the only ones chasing the kid around in Deadpool 2. It seems that the government is after him too. Now is this because of the unique (yet unidentified) powers of the child or because of the fact that his powers have caused a certain amount of property damage.

It seems rather prudent to assume that the kid was in custody of the government and that is where Deadpool rescues him from when Cable shows up and the men go head to head. But what the final trailer has clarified to us is the fact that alongside pyromancy the kid also possesses a certain amount of telekinetic powers. It is clear when he decides to toss a manhole cover at oncoming enemies without the use of fire. BRING IT ON!
