The Marvel Cinematic Universe is now the biggest thing in Hollywood, and nothing else is even in a 1000 miles radius to compete with the firepower of the MCU. Any new or known movie being launched in the name of MCU is a sure a short hit, and with what Black Panther has done, it has been proven that no upcoming movie of the MCU can actually fail. Last year, all three MCU movies made over $850 Million, and this year, at least 2 of the 3 movies are going to gross over a Billion Dollars. All this is because of Stan Lee’s Legacy!
Robert Downey Jr. may be the centre of the MCU, but Stan Lee and Jack Kirby are the ones actually responsible for it. Sure, the credit goes to the repeated efforts of Marvel’s president Kevin Feigi, but Stan the Man is the one who brought the source material that for all these great movies we are getting to witness in this era. Every MCU and even Non-MCU Marvel movie has one thing in common, which is the presence of Stan Lee in the most amazing way possible. Stan Lee has the record of appearing in the most number of Superhero movies that no one can ever break.
But since the days of this legend are limited now, unfortunately, the number of cameos Superhero movie cameos will also be limited. The old guy is already 95 years, and even though we want him to life forever and ever, he is still human and probably in the last stage of his age. He has been there in all 18 movies the MCU has put out till now, and he will be there till Phase 3 ends with Avengers 4.
Since it is really tough for him to travel and stuff, many fans have suggested that Marvel should already film all his upcoming cameos at once. As much as we’d like for that to happen, Marvel is still planning their future movies, hiring directors and stuff, so the cameos they could film at once would also be limited. We just have to be prepared for the days when there will be no Stan Lee cameos any more.
Honestly, the movies won’t feel the same without him being there. One of the reasons and mysteries hidden in the MCU and other Marvel movies is the cameo of Stan Lee. Fans are always wondering where can Stan Lee appear now, and in every cameo, fans are surprised and amused by it because the cameos are totally unpredictable.
Avengers: Infinity War co-director Joe Russo recently confirmed that Stan Lee’s cameos for upcoming 3 films post Infinity War have been filmed. He talked about the difficulty that surrounds this filming and how special adjustments are made for it. Here’s what he said:
“So, Stan, typically we try to get him out — he doesn’t love to fly — so we try to get him out for his cameos around the same time. So if we have other movies shooting on the same lot that we’re on, for instance Ant-Man 2 or Avengers 4, we group his cameos together and then move him from one set to the next and kind of get him through his cameos in one day.”
So, a cameo in Avengers: Infinity War was already there, but we can be sure of it that Stan Lee has a cameo in Ant-Man and the Wasp and Avengers 4 since they were filming around the same time period as mentioned above by Joe Russo. And Lee would have recently shot his Captain Marvel cameo as well since the movie has been in production for the last 2 months or so.
Other than MCU, we have Deadpool 2 coming out next month as well. We don’t have the confirmation to whether Lee had shot a cameo for that, but it is highly unlikely that he wouldn’t have any cameo in it. He had the most amazing cameo in the first Deadpool movie, so Deadpool 2 would surely try to top that.
His most recent upcoming cameo is coming up in just a week as Avengers: Infinity War is coming out on April 27. Here is the official synopsis for the movie:
“Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet — the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artifacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain as everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment.”
