Here’s Why Thanos Still Has Just Two Infinity Stones In The Final Infinity War Trailer

The new trailer for Avengers Infinity War is out and it was totally worth the wait. It was packed with great action and stunning fan-pleasing moments that we have gazed upon repeatedly. It was an amazing trailer as it totally nailed it and along with that, it did not give out any major reveal as it was very well crafted and edited.

Fans will still continue to have the same questions with this trailer as they had with the first one because the trailer was still missing Hawkeye and Ant-Man. Well for Ant-Man an argument can always be put in that he was in the trailer but he was the size of an Ant so we didn’t actually notice him. But, Hawkeye is a different story as they are probably hiding a big reveal related to him. The speculation is that Clint Barton or Ronin after losing his family at the hands of Thanos’ Black Order will go on a mission to retrieve Soul stone.

Other big questions that still prevail after this trailer is about the Infinity Stones. First of all, we still don’t have any sort of hint for the sixth and the final Soul Stone. The trailer doesn’t give us anything whatsoever which could act as even a slight hint for the location of the Soul Stone.

Secondly, we still see 2 Infinity Stones in Thanos’ gauntlet. The previous trailer also showed that Thanos has acquired the Power Stone and the Space Stone, and that scene was on his own planet, Titan. It is clear that he gets the Space Stone from Loki as he crushes the Tesseract in this trailer.

Now, he is fighting in Wakanda and we still don’t see any other stone studded in his Gauntlet. He does not have Vision’s Mind Gem as that is what probably the siege of Wakanda is all about. Vision is a living MacGuffin and he is the one that all the Avengers and the Wakandans will be protecting at Wakanda. Here’s what Anthony Russo said about Vision:

“Cap makes the decision to bring [Vision] here to Wakanda. Earth is making its last stand to keep the stone from Thanos. It’s the best place to make your last stand.Vision is a living MacGuffin. Obviously, that raises the stakes because Vision’s life is in danger, and his life is in conflict with Thanos’ goals, so something’s got to give.”

So this explains why Thanos does not have the time stone till now. But where are the other three Stones? We saw that Strange has the Eye of Agamotto, and later in a scene, we get to see that Ebony Maw is actually torturing Doctor Strange, so that is when he might acquire the Time Gem. But since Thanos does not have the Time Stone on his gauntlet, so that places the entire Siege of Wakanda somewhere in the middle of the movie, which means that a lot of Stone chasing still has to be done later on.

A clip for Infinity War was leaked which showed the Collector being interrogated by Thanos and the Guardians were hiding listening to their conversation. Now we know that the Collecter has the Aether, and in the conversation, we could hear Thanos asking him about the Reality Stone, so Thanos may very well have acquired it from the Collector. By the look of that scene, it seemed as if it would appear in the first half of the movie. So, that means that Thanos already might have the Reality Stone as well, and in the Siege, it may have been hidden through CGI tricks.

We have seen Marvel tricking us by showing something else in the trailers while the reality is something else, so it may be possible that Thanos would have the Reality Stone and the Time Stone at that time, and it may have been hidden through CGI to prevent revealing spoilers for the movie. Or it may actually be just 2 stones that Thanos has acquired till now. We are only going to know this when the movie released.

For the matter of the Soul Stone, we know that it is the biggest reveal that Marvel has been building up to, so it will probably come into play in the latter half of the movie, which also makes the seige of Wakanda to not be the final battle of the movie.

Avengers Infinity War is described as a ‘heist film’ and the directors of the movie have mentioned a big MacGuffin chase. Thanos will come with his Black Order to retrieve Infinity stones from whoever possess them and wherever they are located. He can destroy half the universe if he assembles the all-powerful Infinity gauntlet with just a snap of his finger. The Mad Titan will most likely succeed in collecting all six Infinity gems by the end of the movie. Here is what the Russos said:

“With “Infinity War,” the biggest new element to the movie is Thanos and the fact that he’s entering the storytelling in a very bold, strong way, to the degree that he’s almost one of the leads. We’ve shaped an interesting narrative around him that in some ways leans heavily on a heist film in the fact that he’s going after the infinity stones in a much bolder, successful way than he has in the past. The entire movie has that energy of the bad guy being one step ahead of the heroes. We looked at a lot of movies that had that heist-style energy to them, and that brought some inspiration”.

Avengers: Infinity War

Let’s see if Avengers and Guardians are able to provide resistance against Thanos’ wrath and destruction as he begins his invasion of Earth. Here is the official synopsis for the movie released by Marvel studios:

Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain”.

“An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Infinity War” brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time.
