The Real Villain of Deadpool 2 Has Been Revealed And It’s Not Cable

Deadpool is one of the coolest and most bad ass superheroes who not just beat bad guys but also trolls good guys. Wherever he goes, madness and craziness follow. He is the opposite of normal. He does everything with panache and kicks serious a##. His portrayal on the big screen is different from comics as he is not just outlandish but also more assassin like.

The first Deadpool movie starring Ryan Reynolds was a smashing success at the box office as it earned over $800 million when the cost of production was just $60 million. It became the highest-grossing R-rated movie and X-Men movie ever. The movie was directed by Tim Miller but he left the ship due to “creative” issues with the studio.

David Leitch was roped in for the sequel, he got inspired by the super success of the first movie and then  decided to break rules of the game, here is what he said:

“The success of the first film has given us license to explore opening up the world and actually being more provocative. That’s what people are going to expect. They did such an incredible job with the first film — I’m such a huge fan, that it’s exciting to get to play in that sandbox. The fun thing about Deadpool is, there are no rules. Look at the comic book series. There aren’t any rules. We break them! That’s what is fun”.

The only big trailer left for much anticipated comic book movie was of Deadpool 2. Until yesterdays, we only saw two little teasers for Deadpool 2. First was the Wet on Wet teaser which only had about 10 seconds of footage from the movie. Then came the ‘Meet Cable’ teaser which introduced us to Cable, the time traveler who has come to the past to possibly save his daughter.

Now just yesterday, the full-fledged trailer of the movie came out, and it was really f**k-a-licious! It really explained a little plot of the movie, as we came to know that which direction the movie is trying to pursue. Being a Deadpool trailer, it had to have crazy fun references that had nothing to do with Deadpool, or the entire X-Men Universe itself, but that’s fine because he is Deadpool, he can do whatever he wants to!

The trailer packed a lot of new things, as this movie is bringing a ton of Mutants and other X-Men related things into the mix. The trailer showed us that Cable has come back to the past from the future for a Kid. As it goes on we see Wade and Cable face off against each other, and Cable knows him down in order to go for the mystery kid.

Director David Leitch recently in an interview with CBR assured fans that Cable comic book fans are in for a treat and his chemistry with Deadpool is truly epic, he said:

“Cable has a really interesting and complex backstory. Obviously, no film could ever encapsulate the entire backstory, so I think we’ll find the first introduction is about who this character is. When you look at the Cable and Deadpool comic book series, you see how there is banter between them. Whether they are on opposite sides or not, they are definitely formidable to each other. One is frustrating to the other. The chemistry between Ryan Reynolds and Josh Brolin is amazing. It’s not unlike what you see in the Cable and Deadpool series”.

Suggested by the Teddy hung on Cable’s waist, we know that Cable has returned for his daughter Hope Summers, who has possibly died in the future where he is from. The trailer lets us believe that Cable is going to Apprehend and Kill the mystery Kid with the ability to manipulate fire. It also shows that the Kid is actually a menace to the society as he cannot control his powers, which have caused a lot of collateral damage.

Now, why this kid interests Cable is also unknown as the trailer does not do anything to explain that. But we have reason to believe that he may have something to do with the death of Cable’s daughter in the future where Cable has come from. People still don’t even know that who exactly this Kid is, as he is believed to be some sort of descendant of Pyro, or maybe some other mutant who could manipulate fire.

For what we know, Deadpool actually protects the Kid in the movie, and Vanessa even motivates him to do so, so Deadpool is the guardian angel for the Kid in his own way. We are led to believe that he even forms the X-Force in order to go up against Cable, but there is a lot more in the trailer that meets the eye.

We saw Deadpool fight several gangs, out of which, one was explicitly the infamous Yakuza. They make us believe that Cable is actually the main big bad of the movie, but here and even in the comics, Cable comes back to the past in order to save some catastrophic future events, so his agenda is to actually save everyone from the abysmal future that lies ahead.

The reason why Deadpool forms the X-Force would certainly be because he would be going up against an even more evil villain, which is believed to be Black Tom Cassidy and not Cable. So, the people who are assuming that Josh Brolin is the main villain of this one as well, they are going to be disappointed as he is certainly not.

Rhett Reese, the screen-writer teased X-Force but the movie not necessarily will lead to an X-Force spin-off, here is what he said:

“There is a responsibility we have towards the X-Force universe, and I do think we will not disappoint the fans going into Deadpool 2. Its purpose is not to set up X-Force. It will likely set up X-Force, but the drive of the movie won’t be our eyes on Movie 3.”

Wernick, a co-writer, stressed on the fact that despite so many layers, it is really the Deadpool movie we wanted, here is what he said:

“We never want to let the tail wag the dog. We want to tell the best Deadpool story we can. But I do think we have a responsibility to think about a larger universe in the way that Marvel does and start to put pieces in place. Some of these movies feel overstuffed and almost choking with the need to set up eighteen different things that pay off down the road, and we want to avoid that responsibility to the extent that it hurts us. We want to hint at things, we want to plan some characters, and we want to make some nods, but we’re very, very cognizant about making sure that Deadpool is above all a Deadpool movie.”

Deadpool 2 will be opened worldwide on May 18, 2019 and the cast of the movie includes Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa/Copy Cat, T. J. Miller as Weasel, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus, Zazie Beetz as Neena Thurman / Domino, Josh Brolin as Nathan Summers / Cable and Jack Kesy as Black Tom Cassidy.

Here is the official plot synopsis of the movie released by Marvel and 20th Century Fox can be read below:

“After surviving a near-fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.”

Can Deadpool 2 repeat the history at the box office?  Will it surpass the first movie in terms of box-office earnings? Well, we will soon find out.
