Infinity War: Here’s How War Machine Could Walk Again After Civil War

After the events of Civil War, the battle at the airport between Captain America’s team and Iron Man’s team came to an abrupt end after Vision unintentionally redirected a projectile at War Machine. James Rhodes fell hundreds of feet below to his apparent death, or so it looked, Rhodes came out of the hospital paralyzed from the waist down, the blow of the attack had severely damaged his spine, He was unable to walk again, and that was something that turned lifelong friends like Tony Stark and Captain America into sworn enemies. Cap and Tony are still not on speaking terms. Rhodey still couldn’t walk until a miracle happened. The Infinity War images – released by EW’s take on Avengers 3 has revealed Rhodey is indeed back in action. He is walking again. But how is Rhodey aka War Machine able to walk again after Civil War?? Look below and find your answer.

James Rhodes served in the United States Army. He was one of the best of his batch. He followed a strict regimen and believed in discipline. He believed in the sanctity of his profession and the way people looked up to him as their idol. He was a responsible man. Then he met Tony Stark. The equations completely changed. Tony’s extravagant superhero lifestyle turned Rhodey into a superhero as well. He was quickly drawn to the Armored Vigilante lifestyle. He became the War Machine.

As War Machine James stayed by Tony’s side and helped him defeat Ivan Antonovich Vanko aka Whiplash in Iron Man 2 as well as save the President and defeat A.I.M in Iron Man 3. In Civil War too, War Machine was a big help to Tony Stark’s Avengers, helping his teammates and giving Tony’s team some much needed Kaboom and firepower. After Vision paralyzed him from the waist down, all hope seemed lost for Rhodey to come back as War Machine and save the day again like the way he used to beside his best friend and most trusted companion Tony Stark.

But you know what they say – It ain’t over until the Fat Lady sings!! War Machine is back again, folks!! And he is standing on his own two legs again. What’s more is that he looks like he is on a mission of his own in Infinity War. A new photo revealed by EW for Avengers Infinity War shows James Rhodes back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe scene as a superhero.

But how is it possible?

Rhodey is seen standing next to the very guy responsible for making him differently-abled. Rhodey is seen along with Captain America and Black Widow in one of the snapshots from Infinity War. Rhodey’s legs are contained within some form of high tech braces that help him walk again. Fans of the MCU will realize immediately that it is just the upgraded version of the same tech Tony made for Rhodey at the end of Civil War. Rhodey was seen trying to walk again using a similar brace and trying to get the hang of it. But all he could manage then was a few feet. Lokks like now he is able to do more than just stumble. He could assist Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanova in battle against Thanos. War Machine is back!!!

Wakanda could also have a certain hand in getting Rhodey these braces. Shuri is an even smarter mind and a genius greater than Tony Stark himself. We have to believe that she had some hand in making the impossible technology of helping a paraplegic walk again a reality.

It is good to see Rhodey back in action again. But it is not just his legs that got an upgrade for Infinity War. Rhodey is wearing a newer, updated version of the War Machine suit. The armor has newer technology and firepower and a cooler, more stylish look than the previous War Machine armor. Let’s see if this suit has enough firepower to make the Mad Titan bleed.

Avengers: Infinity War will release on April 27th, 218. The official synopsis reads:

“Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet — the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artifacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain as everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment.”
