Justice League Extended Cut Is On Its Way

Justice League had hit the theatres in November and the reaction of the fans was amazing. The movie Justice League is really great according to the fans and each and every moviegoer whether he/she is a comic book fan or not come out having a good time watching the movie. The movie surely had its flaws but it is safe to say that it is a step in the right direction.

Still, most of the fans were pissed about the fact that so many scenes from the movie were cut in order to make it 2 hours long for its theatrical release. The fact that led Zack Snyder’s tragic exit from the movie made way for Joss Whedon to step in and finish what Snyder had left. This led to Whedon making alterations and changing bits of the movie as he and the studio deemed fit in order to shorten it for the release.

Extensive reshoots took place under Joss Whedon which cost the studios an extra $25 Million in order to make it fit for the release. These reshoots had almost all scenes of Superman, as almost everything that Zack Snyder shot with Sups went to the digital trashcan. Fans were angry that many scenes that they saw in the trailers were also cut as, but they had to be as they might not have fit in the direction that Joss Whedon was taking the movie into.

After seeing the theatrical cut, a huge enraged fan base demanded for Zack Snyder’s Cut of the movie which was reported to be 2 hours and 45 minutes long. Well, no news about that is out and it will not be possible for the studios to release that as it will cost even more money to finish that.

When Zack Snyder left Justice League, the movie  was about 70% finished and in order to finish that cut, Snyder would have to come back, the who special effects team will have to be brought back and all this could cost the studio about $50 Million more which is a budget of one whole movie itself. So it will not be possible for the studios to give us the Snyder cut as it will cost even more money to an already expensive movie and that too just for a BluRay home release.

Still, fans should not lose hope as an extended cut of Justice League is likely on its way as a new listing on Amazon Germany indicates that home media release of Justice League will feature an extended cut.

Different countries get a somewhat different variant when movies come out for home release and researchers have found that an extended cut for Justice League will come out in Germany.  This listing states the runtime of the movie to be 135 minutes, which means the movie would be 15 minutes longer than the theatrical cut we got to see.

Well, it is unknown that which scenes will make it to the 15 minutes of extra footage. But as it was mandatory for Whedon to make the movie 2 hours long, we came to know that it resulted in these specific scenes to be cut out including cameos featuring Iris West (Kiersey Clemons) and Nuidis Vulko (Willem Dafoe), as well as a flashback sequence involving Cyborg (Ray Fisher).

Well, don’t confuse this extended cut with Zack Snyder’s cut as that would totally be different and almost impossible to be released for reasons mentioned above. Hopefully, if this extended cut comes out, it pleases the fans, makes the movie better and gets the lost faith in DCEU back, just like what happened with Batman V Superman Dawn of Justice.

The expected release date for Justice League’s home release is said to be 30th January, which means, by the end of this month, we might get to see an extended cut of the movie having totally new footage.  The film‘s cast includes Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon.
