A Black Widow Movie Doesn’t Mean She Will Survive The Avengers 4

There has been a long-standing demand of Marvel fans that there must be a Black Widow solo movie as she is one of the most popular bad-ass female superheroes, hence, she deserves a shot before anyone else. In fact, there was a poll done among Marvel fans where Black Widow won overwhelmingly as 48% of the respondents favored her as compared to 52% split over Vision, Falcon, War Machine, Scarlet Witch.

Recently, Stan Lee, God of Marvel comics attended Supernova Comic-Con in Brisbane, Australia where he was asked about the likelihood of a standalone Black Widow movie. He replied ‘funny you should ask that’. He assured the fans that a Black Widow movie is in the pipeline. It was deemed significant as when Stan made a similar comment about T’Challa, it succeeded in securing a Black Panther movie.

Further, Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi was asked if he were given a chance to select any character from Marvel roster and make a movie, who would it be. He said:

“In all honesty, I reckon I could probably bring something pretty unique to any of the franchises. So, I’d love to see Black Widow. I’d like to see Black Widow as something crazy and a bit funnier than we expect it to be. Because we know her story and it’s very sullen and very dark and her history is very dark. But! What’s the funny version of that? What’s the more entertaining version of that?”

The gorgeous actress Scarlett Johansson was asked if she would be interested in a Black widow solo movie. Here’s what she said:

“I really like playing Natasha, playing the Black Widow in The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Captain America: Civil War. It’s been an interesting journey, to take a character and grow it over these years, and peel the layers back and be able to, as you do in life, grow with this person. It’s a character that’s really enigmatic and has an amazing origins story, so there’s a lot for me to play off of.”

Well, over a period of time, we have all come to love ScarJo as Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow of the MCU. Fans are celebrating as Marvel has finally confirmed a standalone Black Widow movie is in the works. But, halt your celebrations for a moment. Halt them, because everything is not well in the MCU, and here’s why.

What we know is that the MCU grand plan of infinity war is reaching its culmination as Thanos finally moves on avenger’s home planet.

The Earth’s mightiest heroes have to dig too deep to fight the Mad Titan, they have to pull every trick in the book and even invent some new ones, if MCU keeps true to its source material and as we all know the heroes will win in the end. But what we don’t know for sure is whether our protectors come out of the final battle unscathed.

Thanos is an all-powerful being and to fight him with soldiers like Romanoff and Barton (no matter how skilled they are) is like throwing stones at a tank. If he wants (and he does) he could wipe out the combined forces of Avengers in a flash ( quite literally).

The Infinity Gauntlet, if finally assembled in the movie will confer the powers of a God onto massively powerful Thanos which essentially makes him unbeatable. There are six Infinity gems which are individually strong but collectively they can literally reshape the worlds and alter realities. The five Infinity gems have already been discovered and one gem (soul stone) is yet to be found.

Here’s how the elder of the universe ‘The Collector’ describes Infinity gems:

“Before creation itself, there were six singularities. Then the universe exploded into existence, and the remnants of these systems were forged into concentrated ingots… Infinity Stones.”

There’s a good chance we might lose a few soldiers. Someone has to be cannon fodder, right? We need conflict and Marvel has never been one to shy away from a classic bait and switch.

What do we know? We know that Natasha of the MCU was trained by a mysterious organization to be an assassin of peak human capability, we also know that Barton was sent to kill her and ended up turning her into an asset in the process. That is also the reason for the pair’s impeccable on-screen chemistry in Avengers 1.

And now, on the cusp of Avengers 4, we get a confirmation from Marvel for a standalone Black Widow movie. Well, I for one, don’t buy it. It is highly unlikely, taking a logical approach, that front line cannon fodder (excuse my French)  such as Barton and Romanoff survive something like Thanos.

One of the fan theories is that there could be a Skrull version of Black Widow in Avengers Infinity War but its highly unlikely. Also, MCU has decided to bring Skrull storyline in Captain Marvel solo movie and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D TV series is featuring Skrulls in the latest season.

But here’s the catch, ScarJo doesn’t need to survive for the new movie to work. Marvel may be pulling the world’s sleaziest cover up for their fans by giving ScarJo’s Black Widow a homage in a post-infinity war MCU origin movie.

The script for the Black Widow movie is still in the works but there’s a real chance that it is more likely an origin movie rather than an aftermath for infinity war, you know, something to get a fan excited for the post infinity war movies led by Tom Holland’s Spiderman.

Disappointed? Well, don’t be. A Black Widow origin movie may just be the best thing to happen to the MCU post infinity war. You ask why? Well, let me tell you!

In the comic, Natasha Romanoff was trained by the Hand ( yes, the organization Netflix’s Danny Rand has been fighting) and was rescued by none other….

*Drum roll*

Wolverine.

I know!!!

Fans, now you can celebrate. The Black widow movie confirmation may not only give us a look in ScarJo’s Black Widow’s mysterious past but it could also pave the way for MCU’s Wolverine to finally be unraveled.

Keep in mind, this may just yet be a possibility as Disney gears up to acquire fox or at least get the major characters such as the X-Men and Fantastic Four back.

This not only means that we might finally get a chance to see the classic Wolverine costume but it also means that the cast and scope of Avengers 4 may be bigger than we could’ve ever dreamed.

Black Widow

To see wolverine come out swinging from the shadows as Thanos tramples through the Avengers may just be blatant fan service (even that possibility is shrouded under a mountain of paperwork), but it’s entirely plausible. This would be truly Epic…something that will blow everyone’s senses.

Whatever the case might be, let me just say on the behalf of all Marvel fans, FOX just give the characters back to Disney before you mess with fantastic 4 once more. Fox needs to realize that comic-book fans get hurt when their favorite characters are botched onscreen.
