Avengers: Infinity War – Chris Hemsworth Reveals Thor’s Eye-Patch Secret

Avengers: Infinity War is only a few months away and the hype is outright colossal at this point. Everyone is waiting for their favorite Mad Titan to come to Earth and wreak havoc on the Big Blue Planet. Thanos is a member of the Eternals, a race of super-powered human beings that were the result of experiments on the human race by the Celestials, Cosmic Super Gods of the Marvel Universe. Thanos is an Eternal but has genes of the Deviants, the enemy race of the said species. A cool backstory and his search for absolute power make him one of the deadliest and most lovable villains among the Marvel Community.

Thanos, in his efforts to woo Lady Death, will be coming to Earth along with his army. He will be trailed by the Black Order, a group of five alien beings that are as equally deadly as Thanos himself. The Stage is set for an epic showdown of the highest cosmic order. Can the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes actually have what it takes to defeat the Purple Megalomaniac from outer space?

Can Captain America and Tony Stark use their brains and brawns to lead their fellow Avengers to victory? It will be difficult to know the answer considering Marvel is not ready to divulge any secrets regarding the ending (not even a little one).

Avengers Infinity War

The Avengers will need all the help they can get. The Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Vision and Scarlet Witch will be essential to the war. They will provide valuable input and insight to the good guys during the Infinity War saga. But there is one superhero that has enough juice in him to kick Thanos out of the Globe with one single flick of his wrist. And he is a hero, a God amongst men to be precise. Can you guess which guy are we talking about??

It’s Thor. The Norse God of Thunder has recently attained true Godhood after the events of Thor: Ragnarok. After losing his hammer to Hela, Thor recently managed to control his powers and was a force to be reckoned with. His lightning powers came at a price though – Thor lost an eye to Hela in the ensuing fight in Asgard.

In the Infinity War saga, Chris Hemsworth wears an eye-patch in the trailer that has recently confused a lot of fans. What does the eye patch hold in store for Thor’s Future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Will the patch be permanent like Odin’s or will Thor regain back his second eye? Is the King of Asgard forever cursed to be a One Eyed Jack? What is going on?????

The trailer for Thor: Ragnarok misled the fans to a great extent. It showed Thor having both his eyes intact as he fought his sister. But the exact same shot in the movie shows Thor with one eye intact and the other busted beyond repair. After the fight in Asgard, Thor is forced to wear an Eye patch to cover his damaged eye. But there is one small plot hole that no one has yet mentioned. Thor has massive merchandise value in retail stores. And none of his toys and accessories features the Eye Patch.

Hemsworth reveals the real reason for this confusion:

“It was… yeah, I remembered being… with the eyepatch, the story unrolling, ‘Yeah, cool, this is interesting.’ And then the day that we put the eyepatch on I was like, ‘This is ridiculous,'” Hemsworth said. “The thing kept falling off, and we didn’t have the thing [gestures an eyepatch strap]. So it became a CG eyepatch, which I was stoked about… But I’m happy with that trade [for the wig]. It has its downsides. But the upside is that it’s an hour less in hair and makeup without the wig on.”

The Eyepatch was more of an Odin gig. Thor just looks weird in it. Maybe it is the guy that has grown accustomed to seeing Thor with Long hair and both eyes, in me talking but I must say Thor looks way better with both eyes than just one. And even if they decided to use the Eye patch, why not just ask Chris to wear it on screen? Why did the studio decide it to CGI the eye patch in post production??

The last time a movie used CGI to modify someone’s space it led to Justice League’s Cavill-mustache fiasco. Let’s not hope Thor is headed down the same path in Avengers: Infinity War.

Avengers: Infinity War has a release date of May 4th, 2018.
