The events of Avengers: Infinity War will see the Avengers go head to head against the Mad Titan Thanos and his Black Order. But the good guys always win at the end of the day. After the Infinity War Saga, the Avengers will face a new threat – the shape-shifting Skrulls. The Skrulls are alien master infiltrators that can shapeshift into any hero and infiltrate enemy forces at their highest levels. But if MCU is taking the Secret Invasion route, many of the Avengers have already been replaced by Skrull Double Agents.
Carol Danvers is the first female superhero of the MCU to have her own standalone production. In the comics, Carol heads SWORD – an organization that deals with extraterrestrial threats. Could the events of the movie lead to her eventual capture by the Skrulls? Is this the reason she is not a part of the Avengers at the moment?
Let us face it. Tony Stark may be the greatest minds of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but even he cannot fight back against a planet of alien invaders. The Skrulls are one of the most advanced races of the Universe. They definitely have the technology and the resources to replace Tony Stark and infiltrate Shield at their highest levels.
It has already happened in the Comics. Steve Rogers was captured by the Skrulls and replaced with a Skrull shapeshifter. The duplicate Cap then convinced most of the world to lay down their arms when he made it look like Captain America had changed sides. If it was possible in the comics, it could be done in the movies.
In Secret Invasion, Hank Pym aka the Original Ant-man is one of the very first people to have been replaced by a Skrull agent and acted as the spy that gave out the Avengers to the enemy forces. Hank Pym’s role was pivotal in driving the events of Secret Invasion. The Ant-Man could be a spy, people!!!
Natasha Romanoff is a master assassin and martial artist of the Marvel Universe. With all her martial arts prowess, she is still not powerful enough to take on the Skrulls. Shield sends Natasha on several covert missions throughout the world. Replacing her would be a piece of cake.
In Avenger: Infinity War trailer, Loki could be seen handing the Tesseract back to Thanos or one of his Henchmen (we are still not sure). But why the sudden change of heart after the events of Thor: Ragnarok. Loki was finally seeing his way back to becoming the good guy. Why did he change sides again? Could it be?
The Director of Shield is one of the most protected men on the planet. Yet he faces threats in the MCU movies more than anyone else. In the events of The Winter Soldier, we saw Fury fake his death. But how does someone survive an attack like that. Fury will also be seen in the Captain Marvel movie which will be a prequel to the Avengers. Could the Skrulls have replaced him already?
The Watcher of Valhalla can see all things happening in the nine realms. He is all knowing and omniscient. But why did not he warn the others about Thanos or the Skrulls before they even raised their heads above the Horizon. Thor: Ragnarok saw Heimdall sporting a different look than usual. Why is that?
Peter Parker was another superhero in the comic book arc Secret Invasion that was easy meat for the Skrulls to target. Peter was replaced pretty early in the comics. The movies do not show him as an Avenger (yet) but he still is one of the most powerful assets on the superheroes’ sides. If Peter Parker is a Skrull, it is pretty much game over.
The Green Giant of the MCU is the greatest weapon one could use on the battlefield. The Avengers know that and so do the Skrulls. After Avengers: Age of Ultron, Hulk made an unexpected journey to space. It won’t come as a surprise for the Hulk to have encountered several alien races, including the Skrulls. The Skrulls could have then replaced Bruce Banner with an impostor and placed him on Sakaar for the eventual events of Thor: Ragnarok.
Do I really look like a guy with a plan? You know what I am? I’m a dog chasing cars. I wouldn’t know what to do with one if I caught it! You know, I just… do things
