Five months folks! Five months and the long wait will be finally over. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been building up to this movie since a decade. Starting from Iron Man, the Marvel Studios entertainment value has grown by leaps and bounds.
All events, scenarios, post-credits, Easter eggs and the likes – everything was pre-planned so that the MCU phase 3 could end with the highly anticipated Avengers Infinity War. It all boils down to one single day next year. Get ready to witness history in the making.
The trailer came, fans saw and it owned the internet. Finally, Marvel released the first official trailer and buoy it was breathtaking, action-packed and emotionally resonating all rolled into one.
In fact, some pundits are saying that the movie could even become the highest grossing ever given the massive reception it has received from Marvel fan community and comic-book lovers in general. It broke an all-time record for maximum viewings of a trailer in the first 24 hours of release.
When we say Avengers Infinity War, two things come to mind – the Avengers and the big bad Thanos. Thanos will be the highlight of the entire movie undoubtedly but the Avengers won’t be far behind. Thanos will come to Earth’s doorsteps looking for the Infinity Stones.
In the MCU, there are six infinity gems that Thanos needs to assemble an infinity gauntlet and control literally every aspect of cosmic existence. Each of them individually are powerful but collectively they can rewrite reality and destroy worlds. There are five Infinity stones that have been introduced but soul stone is yet to be discovered. Here’s what the Collector said:
“Before creation itself, there were six singularities. Then the universe exploded into existence, and the remnants of these systems were forged into concentrated ingots… Infinity Stones.”―The Collector
Two stones are already down and four to go. The space stone aka Tesseract was stolen by Loki in Ragnarok and he will gladly gift it to the Mad Titan. The Power stone aka Orb has been retrieved by Thanos as he has destroyed Nova Corps. Well, in the trailer, we saw Corvus Glaive (leader of Black Order) ripping “Mind stone” off Vision’s forehead.
The Reality stone aka Aether was with the Collector after he was given the possession of it by Asgardians at the end of Thor: The Dark World. But the leaked footage showed Thanos ambushing Collector’s base and possibly retrieving the Infinity stone. The “Time stone” is lying in Kamar-Taj library and “Soul stone” is in Wakanda.
And as he knocks on Earth’s doors to complete his quest of total universal conquest, it will be up to the Earth’s mightiest heroes to stop the Mad Titan and his fanatic Black Order in their tracks.
But can they do it? Can the Avengers be strong enough to defeat the greatest adversary the Marvel universe has ever witnessed in its billions of years of age? Thanos is feared throughout the cosmos. His reign of terror is absolute. No one will entertain the idea of Team Avengers & Guardians flawless victory against the purple megalomaniac.
There will be casualties. A LOT OF CASUALTIES! If the movies follow the comic book arc that is. Though the Marvel cinematic universe never pays too much heed to the comic books if history is to be trusted, we have to believe otherwise for the sake of the entire geekdom.
Will the heroes get their asses kicked? The answer is almost definitely a yes. Will the heroes kick ass? Hell yeah, mate!!! Do not for a second believe that the heroes won’t give Thanos the fight of his lifetime. He may have high chances of winning this high stakes game but the heroes will surely give him a run for his money.
Scarlet Witch is one stone cold bitch you do not wanna mess with. She has an intimate relationship with VISION in both MCU and the comics. The difference is that in the movies their powers’ origins have the same source which binds them as opposed to comics where it’s pure romance.
Now, the mind-gem is the source which connects them in a way that Vision is new to this world, unaware of what suffering is and could provide emotional solace to her who has just lost her brother. But Thanos’ Black Order will come for Vision as the Mad Titan need the mind gem to complete the Infinity Gauntlet, they will rip it off his head.
Scarlett Witch powers were so insane that Ultron made her an ally as he thought she would destroy ‘The Avengers’ from within. They have grown even more and she literally has the ability to change reality. The loss of Vision may drive her over the edge and wreak terrible havoc. She went crazy in comics too at the loss of her children.
A new behind the scenes video shows Scarlet Witch, played by Elizabeth Olsen, doing amazing wire stunt work while the scene is shot. The scene promises a big action sequence if you try hard and read the context. The video is pretty short though. It still manages to drive home one big plot point – Scarlet Witch will be pivotal to the Avengers in the Infinity War saga.
The recent Instagram post also helped fans know about the end of Olsen’s shooting for Avengers Infinity War. Her Caption reads “9 months later… This witch is out”. Out she is. After a grueling 9 months of intense shooting schedules and reschedules, Elizabeth has given her best to the role and hopes her fans enjoy it. Do not worry Elizabeth, you are too awesome. See you in May.
Scarlet Witch made her debut into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Avengers: Age of Ultron. She and her brother Quicksilver aided the sinister Ultron A.I to try and take over the world and almost ended up destroying an entire nation until the siblings switched sides at the right moment. She was later seen in Captain America: Civil War aiding Cap’s team in fighting Team Iron Man.
So far her roles have in the MCU have been diversified and full of conflict. Scarlet Witch as a character in Marvel movies has blossomed from a wannabe ruthless femme fatale into a badass superhero who genuinely starts caring about the well being of others. Let us hope she has carried the same bad-assery all the way to Avengers: Infinity War.

“An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Infinity War” brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.
Anthony and Joe Russo will direct the film, produced by Kevin Feige. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee are the executive producers. Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely wrote the screenplay. Avengers Infinity War has a release date of May 4th, 2018.
