Suicide Squad 2 Is Bringing A Huge DC Villain And It Is Not The Joker

The third movie in the DCEU, Suicide Squad which was directed by David Ayer was a big box office hit for Warner Bros. So, a sequel to the movie was inevitable.

The movie assembled a whole array of DC characters including Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney,  Divergent & Water Diviner), Deadshot (Will Smith, The Pursuit of Happyness & Seven Pounds), Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman, RoboCop & Easy Money) , Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie, The Wolf of Wallstreet), Katana (Karen Fukuhara), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne, Anna Karenina & upcoming Pan),  Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye- Agbaje), El Diablo (Jay Hernandez), Slipknot (Adam Beach), Amanda Waller (Viola Davis, Prisoners  & The Help) and Joker (Jared Leto, Mr. Nobody & Dallas Buyers Club).

The Suicide Squad movie was based on DC Comics conceived by John Ostrander. It is about a group of DC villains who are hired by Amanda Waller for a highly classified and dangerous government mission which carries a huge amount of risk.

First, everyone thought the big villain is definitely the Joker, then fans thought as there is magic involved in the DC universe, it could be Enchantress. Well, both were part of the movie and played their parts but there was not a definitive villain. This is the problem that the sequel aims to solve by having one big baddie.

Out of the many projects that are under works in the DCEU, Suicide Squad 2 is another project that is in active production. Recently, it was reported that WB has found a new director for the movie. The Accountant director Gavin O’Connor has taken over David Ayer’s DC Adaptation of the Supervillain Team-up movie for a sequel. WB hopes to start shooting for the movie in late 2018, and it will probably hit the theatres in early 2020.

Along with them, there was Batman in the movie as well. He was played by Ben Affleck who is shown briefly in flashback scenes of Joker and Harley Quinn.

Well, all of these characters of the main cast is expected to return for the movie and Jared Leto’s Joker has already been confirmed to be returning in the movie and he will surely have a more substantial role this time around.

Now, the latest reports suggest a huge surprise for this movie being planned by WB for the DCEU. A new report claims that the Suicide Squad 2 will serve as the DCEU introduction for Dwayne Johnson’s long-awaited character Black Adam, who was originally supposed to star in the Shazam! before his first appearance turned into a solo movie for Black Adam only.

This report also claims that production won’t begin until October 2018, in order to accommodate The Rock’s busy schedule.

Dwayne already has 2 films lined up to film next year, Disney’s Jungle Cruise movie and his controversial Fast & Furious spin-off that is in the works with Jason Statham, along with a possible fifth season of HBO’s ‘Ballers’ as well. Still, Johnson is used to doing at least 3 movies a year according to the track record of the last two 3-4 years, so it will not be a big deal.

But, if this is true, then DC has got to consider all the facts. If Black Adam does get introduced in this one, it might be good or bad for the movie as well as the character itself. It could be a bad choice as there are already too many characters in the movie and introducing such a huge character may take away the focus from other characters and the sequel could face the same thing that the first movie faced, like Jared Leto’s Joker completely getting neglected.

Suicide Squad

Also, giving Black Adam a solo movie first might be a better idea as he is too big of a character and making him appear in Suicide Squad might not do Justice to this particular character. Black Adam was originally a good person who turned on a darker path facing some tragedies. This kind of an intro would be much better than making him a villain straight away.

It could be good for the movie as well, as it will bring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s whole fan base into watching this movie. Also, the previous villain, Enchantress introduced the mystical aspect in the DCEU, so Black Adam could continue that story aspect very easily.

This report could be very true as Dwayne Johnson was already teasing a big surprise relating to Black Adam and this just might be it. So let’s see what the future holds for Black Adam and Suicide Squad 2. Does he get a solo movie or a debut in Suicide Squad 2 appearing along with Will Smith, Margot Robie, Jared Leto and other squad members? Whatever the case may be this is a masterstroke by DC to create a huge buzz around the Suicide Squad sequel.

Black Adam is the anti-hero who rules over his country Kahndaq with an iron fist, who does not tolerate crimes, threats or even petty problems. He is not a character who is known for his mercy and he has killed in really brutal ways. Let’s see why Black Adam is such a merciless adversary as evident from the most vicious kills to his credit:

Aman, His nephew:

Although this kill may not exactly be like the others on the list, the killing of Aman by his uncle Teth Adam was the most vicious of all Black Adam’s killings. Teth Adam is a man filled with anger and a need for revenge who took his nephew’s life for his perception of what is the greater good. But the killing of an innocent child is all the more vicious of all his past killings.

Adrianna Tomaz:

In Black Adam: short-lived The Dark Age #2, Black Adam used the Lazarus pit(the one from the world of Batman)to bring his wife back to life. Black Adam had mourned his wife’s untimely passing for many years, so for a small moment in time, it looked as if the demi-god was getting a second chance at marital happiness. They are short-lived, as they soon discovered her body was slowly decaying. To prevent a painful death, Black Adam kills his wife to take her pain away.

Psycho-Pirate:

Black Adam has often proved time and time again that he just has no time for games. Black Adam shoved his fingers through Psycho Pirate’s eyes and pushed his Medusa mask through his head right after he confronted him. Psycho Pilot had been manipulating Adam which in turn resulted in his imprisonment by Alexander Luthor Jr.

A Yeti:

After the killing of his wife for the second time, Teth Adam leaves the cave where the Lazarus cave resides only to be confronted by a Yeti. Zatanna and Captain Marvel had more or less rendered Adam of his powers but the character proved he was still a strong one even without the powers of Shazam. Adam slashed the Yeti’s gut and used the Yeti’s intestines to rappel down the mountain.

Sivana’s Assistant:

Doctor Sivana became obsessed with finding Teth Adam in Dc’s New 52. He and his excavation team discover his tomb in Justice League #11.Immediately they find themselves in the presence of Black Adam who electrocutes Sivana’s assistant with lightning upon the discovery that he did not understand his language. This act showed Adam to be impatient, the no-nonsense ruler who could easily kill at the drop of a hat if he deemed them unnecessary.

Well, its gonna be one hell of a fight between ‘The Squad’ and Black Adam. Can’t wait anymore.
