The Brand New MI-6 Image Has Two Coolest Dudes Who Share Funny But Awesome Chemistry

The MI franchise was launched in 1996 and movie was a blockbuster. The best part is that the most groundbreaking sequels came out a decade later when Tom Cruise was in his 50’s. He always a great actor, but MI series turned him into a megastar. The franchise has made around $2.77 Billion worldwide till now and more films are in the pipeline.

Tom Cruise is famous for performing daring stunts without a stunt double. With each passing movie, he raise the stakes, in MI 4: Ghost Protocol, he climbed the world’s tallest skyscraper Burj Khalifa in Dubai, while in Rogue Nation he was literally dangling outside an actual plane. It’s been a great run for the team behind MI movies which is one of the most successful and entertaining action franchises in Hollywood. David Ellison (the producer) recently revealed that the upcoming MI movie will feature the biggest stunt of Tom Cruise.

Well, a few weeks ago bad news started coming from MI-6 sets as Tom Cruise seriously injured himself while performing one of the daredevil stunts.

Tom Cruise was shooting in London where he was performing an action sequence where he was supposed to jump from a rig to a rooftop assisted by safety wires. Apparently, he made an impressive leap but could’nt land properly in the end, slamming into the side of a building. He then started limping and collapsed in front of the crew.

The details of injury came out and it’s far worse than we expected. He suffered two broken bones in his ankle and went to US for treatment. One of the credible sources said:

“The injury is worse than was at first feared. Tom did serious damage and will need months to recover. He is the film’s biggest star and everything revolves around him. The movie’s bosses had no choice other than to postpone the filming.” Thank goodness, the movie has resumed production but Tom Cruise is still doing his own stunts.

At CinemaCon, Paramount announced that they would film MI-6 in IMAX for enhanced experience of the cinemagoers. Jeff Sneider confirmed a series of locations – London, India, Paris, Newzealand.  The cast had already finished their Newzealand shoot before the mishap and Tom Cruise had this to say:

“Thank you to the amazing people of New Zealand! I’ve had a great time filming the next Mission: Impossible here.” But then this happened.

Here’s everything you need to know about the movie till now:

Recently, the new image of MI-6 is shared by director Christopher Macquarie which features Tom Cruise sharply dressed as Agent Ethan Hunt and Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn.

The photo does’nt reveal anything big but it signals that we are in for another exciting spy thriller with excellent stunt-work. There is nothing major that has been released by the studio in terms of plot but we are likely to see teaser trailer before the end of 2017.

Christopher Macquarie made the announcement on his instagram account that Henry Cavill (who played Superman/ Man of Steel) has agreed to be part of the next movie in the MI franchise. He will be the right hand man of IMF’s head played by Alec Baldwin. He will also fill in the void left by Jeremy Reiner who played Brandt in MI: 4 and MI: 5.

The MI 6 director said in the message directed towards Cavill – “Say, @henrycavill. Had a thought. Curious if you’re interested in a role in the 6th installment of Mission: Impossible. No pressure.” Cavill replied, “Oh ok…..I’m in!” To this he responded @henrycavill Outstanding. Welcome aboard. Your social media account will self-destruct in 5 seconds.”

Rebecca Ferguson’s character Ilsa Faust who was also part of MI 5: Rogue Nation, will reprise her character in MI: 6. The team includes Luther Stickle (Ving Rhames) and Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg) who will help Ethan Hunt in executing the mission. The biggest surprise for the fans is the arrival of Michelle Monaghan who married Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) in MI: 3, had a surprise cameo in MI: 5 and now returning for MI: 6. She tweeted about this:

“Mission accepted. So thrilled to be reuniting w/ @TomCruise for #MI6! Can’t wait to show you guys more of Julia’s story #missionimpossible”

In the previous films too, IMAX 3D has been used for specific scenes, but the extent of usage of this revolutionary technology will put this one in a totally different league. The Avenger Infinity war movies are filmed entirely in IMAX, further Disney took the same approach with “Beauty and the Beast” starring Emma Watson. The recent Christopher Nolan movie Dunkirk is being shot in the enhanced format as well.

The tentative release date set by Paramount is next year’s summer – July 27, 2018, which is not changing as of now.
