A Major Guardians Character Not Confirmed To Appear In Vol. 3

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was a massive hit and it did even better than the first one at the worldwide box office. This time around, it brought in so many new inter-galactic characters into the mix and portrayed an amazing tale following Peter Quill’s history and the rest of the Guardians.

Avengers Infinity War

The Guardians are now set to appear in Infinity War and except Yondu, who died in Vol.2, everyone else is set to appear in Infinity War. But, one major character that had a big arc in the Infinity War Storyline in the comics is also not going to be featured in the movie. This has also been confirmed by James Gunn himself. That major character is none other than Adam Warlock. James Gunn has denied the appearance of Warlock in Infinity War and Avengers 4 too.

“There is definitely no Adam Warlock in Infinity Wars. After that, you’ll have to wait and see.”

Well, we all had made up our mind for that since we knew that he was going to show up in Vol.3. James Gunn had revealed that he fought to keep Adam Warlock’s post-credits scene in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

This scene actually gave us the confirmation that Warlock’s matter is going to be dealt in Vol.3.

Now, Gunn has provided further information about why the character almost didn’t appear in the film and explained the characters’ future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“I awoke with a vision of the Stakar Ravagers scene in my head and couldn’t stop thinking about it for days.  We almost didn’t include the Adam Warlock scene because he was definitely not in Avengers 3 or 4 and we had no plans for him in general.”

So, It’s still not entirely clear when Adam will start factoring into the MCU’s plans. James Gunn avoided revealing whether or not Adam Warlock will appear in the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Here’s what he said.

“And despite so many people thinking Adam will show up in Vol 3 that is something that we have never confirmed. Who knows how long it will take him to bake in that cocoon. That said, I love Adam. But the time must be right.”

This character was introduced in 1967 as “Him” in Marvel Comics’ Fantastic Four #66-67 before his name was changed to Adam Warlock in 1972. He had the Soul gem in the comics and fought against Thanos, as well as Magus, who was an evil version of himself from the future. He is an extremely powerful character that played an important role against Thanos, but as he is not yet introduced properly, Marvel cannot bring him into the Cinematic Universe just yet.

Now, James Gunn has said that he also might not show up in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3. Well, Although an early draft of Vol.2 featured Adam Warlock more prominently, the character appears in the movie when Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) reveals a storage unit containing a being who she dubs Adam.

Now, this must be really frustrating for the fans, but as very rightly said, by director James Gunn, there is a right time for everything, and maybe according to the plans he has for Vol.3 Warlock would just not fit into the movie as much as we’d like him to.

But, there could be one more amazing possibility that is being kept a big secret as of now. Gunn and Yondu actor Michael Rooker earlier said that Yondu was going to be a part of Infinity War when he was spotted around the sets in Atlanta, but he ended up dying in Vol.2, so what if we are being lied to or misguided in the matter of Warlock so that we don’t expect him at all. What if he shows up in Avengers 4 to make the story more comic accurate? This would drive the fans insane! He was introduced for a reason, so if something big is in story for us regarding this huge character, then we are in for a treat.
