Daniel Radcliffe Loves This Insane Theory About The Dursleys

The Harry Potter books may have ended (for now) but there is always fan fiction and theories that keep us going and give us the regular dose of magic. There have been many theories in the past and while some are good, others are crazy. Through the years there have been many theories about the Potter series and some of them are so good and believable that even JKR has acknowledged them. Still, there have been some that were so crazy that she outright rejected them. Another star that has recently shown interest in some fan theories is none other than the chosen one himself, Daniel Radcliffe. He recently came across a famous HP fan theory that has been around for quite a while now and showed his appreciation for the same.

This theory revolves around the Dursleys and their treatment of Harry throughout the years. So here is the theory in case you haven’t read it:

Horcruxes are dark objects that carry a negative energy in them which can alter the personalities of the people near them. Harry, as we know, was the Horcrux Voldemort never meant to make and therefore he had a part of the dark lord’s soul inside him. This theory suggests that the Dursleys hated Harry because he was a Horcrux all along and lived with them for a long time which could have altered their personalities and generated hatred for their own nephew.

We admit the theory is tempting and has some definite logic behind it but the fact that Vernon and Petunia hated James much before Harry was born and the whole wizarding community in general kind of makes it a loose theory. Also JKR has still not acknowledged it so we won’t take it as anything legitimate. However Daniel Radcliffe seemed very impressed with it and even showed his appreciation for it in a recent interview with Huffington Post. Daniel said:

“Oh OK, so it affects the behavior of people around it. Yeah, that’s definitely the first time I’ve heard that one. It’s definitely interesting because it sort of posits a world where these people only known to be a certain way. Actually if you remove him from the situation, [they] would have been quite a nice, friendly family.

Has anyone asked Jo Rowling what she thinks of that one yet? I feel like that one ― that’s definitely a good one.”

We would surely love to hear what the queen JK Rowling herself has to say about this probable theory and whether she would give her stamp of approval for it or not. Meanwhile, we are very excited for the next Fantastic Beasts movie that is in production right now and will be out next year in November.

The film has an impressive cast and with JKR herself writing the screenplay we could not have wished for something more (maybe a prequel or two about the marauders but nothing else really).
