A Huge Question About Civil War Has Been Answered In Infinity War Trailer!

The Avengers Infinity War trailer is out and boy it’s gorgeous. It came and conquered the internet. It was epic, breathtaking and action-packed all rolled into one, resulting in all-time highest viewings in the first 24 hours of trailer release from Marvel fan community and superhero film lovers in general.

The heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe find themselves at odds with the most ruthless and unforgiving opponent Thanos. The odds are stacked up against the good guys. With the villain from space coming to Earth in search of the precious Infinity Stones, the heroes will find themselves in a fight they cannot possibly hope to win.

In the trailer, we saw actor Josh Brolin playing super-villain Thanos and his transformation into the most powerful cosmic being in the galaxy is terrifying as hell. We saw first-hand the massive powers of Infinity gems, each of them individually is powerful but collectively they can rewrite reality and destroy worlds.

In the MCU, there are six infinity gems that Thanos needs to assemble an infinity gauntlet and control literally every aspect of cosmic existence. There are five Infinity stones that have been introduced but soul stone is yet to be discovered. Here’s what the Collector said:

“Before creation itself, there were six singularities. Then the universe exploded into existence, and the remnants of these systems were forged into concentrated ingots… Infinity Stones.”

In an interview with CNET, Russo Brothers spoke about how they were inspired by heist movies for Avengers Infinity War. Here’s what they said:

“With “Infinity War,” the biggest new element to the movie is Thanos and the fact that he’s entering the storytelling in a very bold, strong way, to the degree that he’s almost one of the leads. We’ve shaped an interesting narrative around him that in some ways leans heavily on a heist film in the fact that he’s going after the infinity stones in a much bolder, successful way than he has in the past. The entire movie has that energy of the bad guy being one step ahead of the heroes. We looked at a lot of movies that had that heist-style energy to them, and that brought some inspiration”.

So which of the Infinity Stones that Mad Titan managed to steal?

The blue one is the Space Stone that was previously used to power Tesseract during the Chitauri invasion at the Battle of New York. It is the first Infinity stone which allows you to be omnipresent and warp yourself in any part of the universe. It helps in opening portals that can be used for interstellar teleportation. It is orange in color in comics (although it has been shown in blue in MCU).

The other stone is purple in color i.e Power Stone aka Orb which we saw in Guardians of the Galaxy. Ronan, the Collector was entrusted with the task of stealing it but Peter Quill’s dream hampered the plans and decided that it would be better protected by Nova Corps. The Mad Titan must have destroyed Nova Corps and retrieved the ‘Orb’ that allows user to have godlike abilities. It is red in comics.

The last movie from the MCU where we saw Avengers together (except Thor and Hulk) in one frame was in Captain America: Civil War. The movie left fans wondering what would happen to Captain America after Steve Rogers drops his shield and his identity. Apart from it, the fans were also confused about the character James Rhodes (Don Cheadle) who was shot by his own team member, Vision in his armor which blasted him out of the sky. Though the shot was meant to hit Falcon who was on the opposite team.

Although War Machine survived the crash but would have to use a special tech from Stark Industries to be able to walk. Actor Don Cheadle recently had an interview with Good Morning America where he confirmed the return of his character in the Avengers: Infinity War. He said:

“When you have somebody like Tony who is a master of tech and can create things that can get you over the hump then you can walk again.”

Even a genius like Tony Stark can’t cure his paralysis– not yet – but this disability won’t resist Rhodey from suiting up and becoming the War Machine. The actor continued saying:

“It’s an augmentation. It’s semi-bionic. I’m like Lee Majors, but twice. I’m the $12 million man.”

And now we have finally seen him making his return in the team and marching with Captain America, Black Panther, Winter Soldier, The Hulk, Black Widow, Falcon and the soldiers of Wakanda. This further clears the doubt of fans who were confused about War Machine’s role in the movie.

War Machine’s firepower will be really useful for the heroes who will try to deal with the countless army of Outriders. These minion creatures are here to fulfill the purpose of collecting the Infinity Stones for the Mad Titan.

Marvel Cinematic Universe will systematically expand to around 68 comic-book characters who are likely to appear in the movie. The superheroes will be literally jostling for screen time and space. The Russo Brothers had clarified that the final two movies in phase 3 are two independent movies without any major inter-linkages. The first one is from Team Avengers perspective while the second one is entirely based on Thanos storyline.
