Legends of Tomorrow: A Huge Character Will Return And He Will Be Bi-Sexual

Legends of Tomorrow is truly one of the coolest show on CW where a group of total strangers including scientists, an assassin, couple of arsonists join hands to fight immortal tyrants, deadly legions etc. who are hell-bent on destroying the mankind. All of this takes place at different time periods so they need a time-traveling machine called Wave-rider.

The season 3 of the show aired its debut episode titled “Aruba-Con” on CW. It picked up from where season 2 left. Captain Hunter disbands Legends as he now heads an organization called “Time Bureau” so he no longer needs them to fix history, but then he needed them badly once Julius Caesar showed up at Aruba.

It is now confirmed by the show-makers that Constantine will appear for a specific plot and that the show will embrace his bi-sexuality from the comics as well. In 1992 issue of Hellblazer, he was revealed to be bi-sexual. John Constantine is a fascinating character with many layers. He is someone who is haunted by the sins committed in the past and then suddenly sent to defend humanity from the forces of darkness. He is a weather-worn exorcist and expert on the supernatural and the occult. He is also a detective, magician, and a hunter of demons.

The fans also feel that CW’s show embracing the true identity of Constantine will redeem NBC canceling his solo show. Here’s the official statement:

“As for the character of Constantine, we knew that an alienated, chain-smoking, bisexual, world-weary demonologist would feel right at home among our Legends.”

Klemmer, a studio guy describes his appearance as “The Exorcist meets One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest“. Here is what he said:

“His appearance will involve the following: a revisiting of ‘Arrow’ season four and the events following that season’s finale episode; a confrontation with this season’s Big Bad on Legends, Mallus; some hot sex; and Damien Darhk, because how can you do an episode about dark magic and not have Damien Darhk?”

The first time Constantine series was aired on NBC, it had to be discontinued/canceled only after thirteen episodes. The actor Matt Ryan was brilliant as the demon hunter but somehow the show received poor ratings. There was also a major “Save Constantine” campaign launched by DC fans which were joined by Matt Ryan himself, but Comcast wasn’t interested.

There was a movie made by Francis Lawrence on the character of John Constantine based on DC’s Hell Blazer series starring Keanu Reeves in the year 2005. But its sequel was never conceived by the studio. One of the major reason includes Keanu Reeves’ reluctance to do it even though he admitted to having loved playing the character on Reddit ‘Ask Me Anything’ Live. Francis Lawrence has tried many times to get the sequel going on a modest budget ($35 million) but he never got the go-ahead from the studio.

It was then revived by CW Arrow. Marc Guggenheim (Executive producer) said “We are thrilled to have Matt Ryan reprise the role of John Constantine on an upcoming episode of Arrow. Matt is an incredibly talented actor and his portrayal of this beloved character was always something we admired”. “The introduction of magic and mysticism on the show provided a truly organic opportunity for us to bring John Constantine to Arrow and the CW’s DC universe. It will be a well-deserved tip of the hat to all the Constantine fans who were so incredibly supportive of that series.” He guest starred in the fifth episode of Arrow season 4 titled “Haunted” where he used his special skills and helped Green Arrow restore Sara’s soul to her body.

For a long time, fans have been waiting to see a revival of Constantine as a character onscreen. Well, the wait is over as CW is set to bring him back for an animated series based on the character. The network released a poster and it’s just so amazing. Matt Ryan will reprise his role in new series produced by David S. Goyer, Greg Berlanti, and Sarah Schechter. It is expected to arrive in 2018. Here’s the official synopsis:

Legends of Tomorrow

This all-new animated series from Warner Bros. Animation and Blue Ribbon Content follows DC’s popular comic book character John Constantine (voiced by the live-action series star Matt Ryan), a seasoned demon hunter and master of the occult. Armed with an arcane knowledge of the dark arts and a wicked wit, he fights the good fight. With his soul already damned to hell, he’ll do whatever it takes to protect the innocent. With the balance of good and evil on the line‎, Constantine uses his skills to face the supernatural terrors that threaten our world and send them back where they belong. After that, who knows… maybe there’s hope for him and his soul after all.

This is definitely great news for all the DC fans.
