The Ghost Rider Has Got A Terrifying New Power In Marvel Legacy

Johnny Blaze, the Ghost Rider debut in 1972 as part of an ensemble and later got his own series in 1973 which lasted till 1983. Johnny Blaze was not the first Ghost Rider, the original was Carter Slade who made his debut in 1967 in Ghost Rider #1. The name “Ghost Rider” is inspired by a song titled “(Ghost) Riders in the Sky”, a cowboy-style song written in 1948.

In the story ‘Trials and Tribulations’, it was revealed that the spirit of vengeance has been around since the Biblical times, hence there have been many ghost-riders across time. The current Ghost-rider is Robbie Reyes who appeared in all new ghost-rider series in 2014. He drives a car not a motorcycle, and he is powered by his Uncle Eli not the spirit of vengeance.

The comic-book character Ghost Rider was in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D season 4, the famous actor Gabriel Luna (Tony Bravo in Matador) had been cast to play the role. He is the most recent incarnation of Ghost rider i.e Robbie Reyes instead of Johnny Blaze. He uses his amazing powers to help innocent people. He is driving a car on fire and dispensing vigilante justice to criminals. He has the power to teleport himself into the car. He blended perfectly into the narrative and is keeping an audience on the edge throughout.

Recently, Marvel Legacy series has come out in the market which has shined a bright light on the character of Ghost Rider and he gained a shocking new power in the issue. When Robbie Reyes decided to take a trip, he had no idea where he is and found law enforcement banging his door. The chase happens and Starbrand shows us who is a crazed maniac. He wants to kill Reyes that brings out Ghost Rider who is curious as to why he wants to kill him.

The fight continues and Ghost rider punches Starbrand hard and saw the very area he was trying to keep Ghost Rider away from. Starbrand gets an upper hand for a while, but Ghost rider then said “Not afraid of death. Done it before, but tell me, are you afraid…of a little penance?!” The Ghost Rider used his “penance stare” on Starbrand, as a result he said “Did it to save the world. Without the brand, there won’t be enough to…you…you are all doomed.”

Ghost Rider

The penance stare is a terrifying power which allows Ghost Rider to look into the eyes of his victims and make them feel all the pain they have caused to others. Well, the fans of Ghost Rider should grab the copy of Marvel Legacy #1 right now.

There is also a real possibility of a spin-off show based on Ghost-rider due to an impressive response of the fans. At NYCC, 2016 when Gabriel Luna was asked about the idea of a standalone series on Ghost-rider, he seemed optimistic and thinks that the rumblings of it may have already begun at the Marvel studio. But before that, we have great news for the fans as Marvel confirms the existence of Johnny Blaze as part of the MCU. There have been inklings of him as we saw a book of the dead which contains powerful secrets about every Marvel creature from a superhero to demons. Also, we saw a poster of Quentin Carnival (a place where Johnny Blaze spent time doing stunt work) in the basement along with a leather jacket and a torn bike. This clearly suggested that he had existed in the past. Well, he exists today as well.
