10 Secrets About The Most Intimate Scenes On Game of Thrones Revealed

*Awkward*

Game of Thrones is known for its bold writing and the show has had many raunchy scenes till now. The intimate scene are never an easy thing to film or to perform. The actors have commented on it a lot of times how uncomfortable it can be for them to perform the scenes in front of people. Some actors, on the other hand, don’t think it should be awkward as it is all a part of life. These are some of the intimate scenes from the show and what the actors who performed them have to say about them.

Rose Leslie’s first sex scene:

We all know that Rose Leslie who played the character of Ygritte on the show is dating Kit Harrington aka Jon Snow in real life. Remember the hot cave scene between Ygritte and Jon? Well, it was Rose Leslie’s first ever sex scene and she admits it was awkward. She said:

“That was my first ever sex scene. You have no idea how many takes that took. I felt certainly within that scene with Jon Snow and Ygritte that it needed to happen. They finally got together and got to show their love to one another. There was no political ploy or tactical play. It was pure romantics.”

Natalie Dormer thinks it’s a part of acting:

Natalie Dormer is a stunning actress and has played many glamorous and amazing characters including Margery Tyrell on the show. She believes that sex and nudity should be a part of playing a certain character because it is a part of life and acting is about portraying life. Dormer is really mature about these things and admits it can be awkward to perform the scenes in front of the cast and crew but it is all a part of the job.

Emilia’s conversation with her dad:

Emilia Clarke has had to do a lot of scenes which required nudity and even intimate scenes with her co-stars. Even though she is very professional about it she finds it hard to watch the show with her parents. Clarke told to a magazine:

“When I first read the scripts, I was on holiday with my family. I told my dad, you’re not going to be able to watch the first five episodes.” It must be really awkward for her parents.

Missandei and Grey worm’s scene:

In season 7 Missandei and grey worm finally admitted their love for each other. The actors however are good friends in real life and Nathalie Emmanuel stated:

“When I read the script the first thing I thought was that it’s a big deal for these two characters and also it’s a nude scene and you can’t help but think about that…You’re like, ‘Okay, I’m getting naked.’ And that was really strange for Jacob and I because we’ve danced around that scenario and we’ve become good mates and now we got to be naked around each other. But it was fine and, obviously, done really respectfully.”

Sophie Turner feels we should talk about issues:

We saw Sansa Stark get sexually assaulted on the show by Ramsey Bolton in a highly uncomfortable scene. Sophie Turner feels that things like rape, inequality and harassment must be talked about more often so that they don’t happen in the future.

Dormer asked for a scene to be altered:

In the show we see a 12-year-old Tommen marry Margaery and it is obviously wrong but this is GOT. Natalie Dormer felt it too but had to play her character. She asked for a few scenes to be altered as she was really uncomfortable performing intimacy with a child.

“It’s the nature of the beast that I’m four years into playing Margaery Tyrell and the big plot points of the book are in stone. You can’t change them. George R.R. Martin wrote a particular plot line, so on the specifics of Margaery and Tommen getting married, there’s nothing I can do. On the show, we had to find a way to navigate that in a sensitive way. There’s more of it next season too, and we’re trying to handle it with intelligence, and integrity.”

Khal Drogo and his pink fuzzy sock:

While filming sex scenes male actors cover up their privates with some modesty socks. Khal Drogo, however, wanted to lighten the mood and used a pink coloured fuzzy sock to cover up. This was really funny for Emilia and both of them kept laughing during the scene. Clarke said:

“There was the lovely, uh, the lovely rape scene…so obviously, there’s nudity and you kind of have to try to lighten the mood. So he decided to not use a modesty sock but use a beautiful pink, fluffy sock,”

Carice Van Houten thinks an audience is hypocritical:

The actress who plays Mellisandre has a clear opinion when it comes to sex scenes and nudity and believes that if violence can be seen normally then why can’t sex? She revealed that:

“In Melisandre’s case, I think I can justify it because she uses sexuality as a weapon… she’s trying to manipulate. I find it hypocritical that we can show people with their heads blown off, then there’s one nipple and viewers get upset.”

Harrington thinks the Jon and Dany scene was wrong:

Kit Harrington believes that the Jon and Dany relationship on the show is just wrong and they would feel the same when they know about it but he also feels it was inevitable on the show.

“I think they both know it is wrong [because of the incestual nature] I think they both know it’s going to cause problems. But it’s that thing, when you suddenly feel that deeply about someone and you go through these events together, it’s like a runaway train. You can’t stop it from happening,”

Clarke thinks the scene was disgusting:Intimate scenes

The scene between Jon and Dany is very controversial and still was anticipated by fans. Emilia Clarke thinks it is terrible and that Jon and Dany would be disgusted when they find out they are related.

“As actors, it’s just weird. The reality of what they are to each other, I don’t know how that’s going to… I think [gags] might be the reaction.”
