Game of Thrones Season 7 has been a season of reunions. A lot of characters we wanted to reunite or freshly unite have finally come together. May it be the Starks at Winterfell or the union of Daenerys with Jon and Daenerys with Jorah. We have even seen Gendry come back and forge an alliance with Jon. We even saw Bronn and Jaime back in the scheme of things. However, one alliance that was missing all throughout these much-needed reunions was that of Bronn and Tyrion Lannister.
We knew that the pair met off-screen to set up, Tyrion’s meeting with his brother Jaime, the planned scene between Tyrion and Bronn didn’t make the final cut.
Bronn is a sellsword and because of his weird charm, he has become a fan favorite since Season 1. His friendship with Tyrion during the early seasons of Game of Thrones was one of the highlights of the show then. Unfortunately, their friendship had run its course after Tyrion killed his father and had to flee King’s Landing.
Ever since then Bronn became close to Jaime and fans have longed for a reunion between Tyrion and Bronn. And, would you believe it that it nearly happened. In an interview with THR, Jerome Flynn revealed that there was an unfilmed scene for Game of Thrones Season 7 between the two former friends,
Originally, I heard there was going to be one. They decided not to go for it. There’s something, I hope, that’s still to come, where Bronn and Tyrion might have a little bit of time for an exchange together, and shoot the breeze, as it were. Hopefully there will be some old Bronn and Tyrion dynamics coming up again. But it was a lovely scene. That was a lovely part of the whole season, all of the many reunions and all of the different storylines coming together.Originally, I heard there was going to be one. They decided not to go for it. Flynn also added that even though he has a relationship with Jaime, it doesn’t equal the bond Bronn shared with Tyrion. The relation with Jaime is more of a business one, while that with Tyrion is more of a brother one. Flynn said,
Sure, there’s a fondness, but it doesn’t come close to what he feels toward Tyrion. I really do think there’s a bond between himself and Tyrion. He sees an underdog and an outcast in Tyrion, and he sees some of himself in that. He enjoys the cleverness of the man and his humor. That’s where they really met.”
Time is of utmost importance on Game of Thrones now as not many episodes are left and the Army of Dead is marching on to Westeros.
Thus, no time for such bonding and friendship. It is a shame if the show doesn’t pause for a moment (not much) and give us such emotional and great moments we want. The characters are whom we love and the relation between Bronn and Tyrion is something every fan has loved.
