10 Superhero Movie Sequels That Are Way Better Than Original Movies

We often hear people say – originally is way better than a sequel. Over the time very few movies have actually made a sequel which is way better than their original versions. Here’s a list of sequels that have surpassed their original movies:

The Dark Knight

1

I’m sure you would agree on this – The Dark Knight was a way better movie than the original Batman. And we mean in every sense, this specifically goes for Heath Ledger as the Joker.

Though the original Batman was more focused on an emotional journey of Bruce Wayne, with his parents dead and how he copes with it. However, the sequel did just the opposite with one of the most thrilling plots seen till date.

Spider-Man 2

My personal favorite. I don’t know how many of you would agree but Peter Parker aka Spider-Man’s really not a Spider-Man without Tobey Maguire. Moving on!

With the original Spider-Man setting a base for the sequel. Spider-Man 2 really turned up the complete story along with the emotional aspect and a whole lot of action added to it. Not to forget the best villain on all the series Doctor Octavius.

X-Men: Days of Future Past

The movie was based on The Uncanny X-Men #141 and #142 (1981) in which our mutant heroes were facing annihilation at the hands of Dr. Trask’s Sentinels. They had no scope of defeating them in the future so, Kitty Pryde uses her powers and sends Wolverine into the past to make things right. The movie was packed with deep grounded emotions where they united the original and the reboot casts. This also made the movie to go far beyond its prequel, X-Men: First Class (2011). The movie also holds the score of 90% on the Rotten Tomatoes, only behind Logan which holds the record of 93% from the series.

X2 (2003)

X-2 brought many mutant characters together in the X-Men world. But the balance between the characters and the plot never lost any track. Many superhero franchises have failed to make this happen.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008)

The movies are very much similar in terms of quality but Guillermo del Toro’s unique vision brought more fun and amazing elements from the Hellboy comics and made the sequel slightly better than the original movie.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

movies

The last movie in the list is Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2. Although the first part was amazing, the sequel has surpassed the original movie in terms of visual effects, music, fun, action, and story. Apart from that, Baby Groot stole the show and made everyone fall in love with him.

Captain America: Civil War

Captain America Civil war is undoubtedly one of the best superhero movies sequels ever made with a Rotten Tomato score of whopping 90%. The movie also joined the billion dollar club with a $1.1 billion worldwide collection. Spider-Man also made his MCU debut with this movie.

Logan

Logan is one of the best superhero movies of 2017. It’s the swansong of Hugh Jackman from the X-Men franchise which also introduced X-23 as a new character. The movie which left behind its prequels in terms of quality, depth and box office collection. It has also received a staggering score of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Superman II

The movie saw the amazing character development of Kal-El. Although the movie didn’t surpass the original movie in terms of the box office numbers, it was undoubtedly better than the original movie because of the performances of its three villains and Lex Luthor. It has a score of 89% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Blade II (2002

This time it’s an anti-hero in the list. The vampire-centric franchise heightened the horror and action in the sequel. The movie went past the origin building and let its main character run free.
